Is it worth the money? what kind of gains can I expect? drawbacks? 10:1 or 12.5:1?

I had a 12.5:1 and laser cam in my old 200x, can't remember if it was a 12.5:1 or 10:1 piston, when I filled up with gas I mixed in some of that octane booster you can buy at wal-mart. After I put that in it felt like it had lots of torque.

I probably should have upgraded my timing chain, my valves and spring on my head but I didn't and still ran decent. Although the piston got to hot and therefore locked down, but that was like 6 months after I had been riding.

The piston was cool, it was a pop up piston from Sudco I think, I gave the piston to my cousin since I had no use for it anymore, the piston wasnt totally melted, just some scars on the side of it.

If I had the choice today I probably wouldnt install one. Just my opinion

If you are replacing the piston anyways then I would go with the 10:1. I put a 12:1 in my 200s and noticed more power, expesualy in the higher rpm range. The drawback with the 12:1 is that you have to use race fuel instead of pump gas.
