stupid ? what diff betwen 2 stroke pipes and 4 stroke

i was wandering because i have a home made one and it came of a KTM i got for free or at least i think it is home made. it is the canaster part

and why do they have that bulgeat the starting part of the pipe and what dos it do. because i have only had 4 stroke bikes

this should answer almost all your question, and for my advice,,,i dont think it would matter putting a 2stroke exhaust on a 4 stroke(kinda look wierd though) but you shouldnt put a 4 stroke exhaust on a 2 stroke, becoz the bulgdy parts like you call it is kinda important and can even bring more HP.
