for this month. They have a talk with Curtis Sparks and one of thier ?'s was what are your all time favorite ATV's and guess what, they were all 3 wheelers, one was the never released 1985 liguid cooled Honda 200R . Ouote- I raced it and it was awsome, great frame geometry and design. He then goes on to say that the 60 Minutes story came out and Honda killed it. The other 2 were the 200X and of course the classic 250R. All 3 wheelers all Honda. How awsome is that.

Hahhah well well well it might be awesome to say that a 200x and 250r is your favorite atv but why not back it up now by actually working on them. I challenge any of you to email ole curtis and see what he has to say about working up a 200x motor for you LOL then we'll see how cool he is.

I thought so, love to hear someone with as much notoriety as Curtis Sparks give it up to 3 wheelers and we all know his bread and butter these days are 4 wheelers but still holds the 3 wheelers dear to his heart much like most of us here on the board.

Maybe not a 200X but he will build you an awsome R any day of the week, no one said thats what made him money any more, he's a business man and he has to do what makes him the money and I totally understand that being in business myself.

That's true, but nobody is asking him to work for free.

I wish I could find a Curtis Sparks dual plug 200X head. Those things were the bomb back in the day!!

Take a look in the "parting shot" section of that same issue. Some guy has 2 ATC250R's and an ATC350X ;)

Not trying to just argue with you 86, just that I disagree. I am a businessman too. That is why I said what I said. I fix computers on the side. Now obviously it's easier to work on newer computers than it is 1990 models. Parts are more readily available etc. But if someone brings a old one to me and wants it fixed, and offers to pay me for my time I"ll do so to the best of my ability, or at the very least explain to the person why I cannot. I'm sure that Curtis could and still can build a mean motor be it two or four stroke, but his claim to fame in the past has been four strokes, and I imagine that's what he's still working on the most. Curtis Sparks was arguably the person that had most to do with the 200x. He helped develop them with honda back in the day according to my mags, and we all know how long he raced and built them. Now for a man with this much of a tie to a particular bike to not even answer emails regarding working on them, or to shoot back a one word sentence such as NO, or something else as asinine doesn't cut it for me. He claims to love three wheelers so much, in my eyes if this were the case he'd love having some trikes out there with his motors still in them. You know, there are plenty of other people that still work in the industry and will work on our old dinosaurs. I have personally talked to Alan from Ct racing and this is a prime example of what I'm talking about. He is a courteous businessman that never has made much money on tecates since 1988, but will happily still work one over for you if you send it his way.

I was going to E-mail him and ask why he would make such a claim but not work on them any more. They no longer accept e-mails, you have to call and Im sure he would not be the person you would talk to.

Well I guess it depends with anyone obviously what kind of day they are having or their work load etc. I made the comments I did about Sparks after listening to various people tell me their experiences with him, and at varying times. I have talked to Alan only one time, but the very fact that HE himself will get on the phone and talk for 20 minutes to someone he hasn't ever talked to before about tecates really impressed me. I don't think most owners would have even bothered. He certainly didn't act a smartass with me, but maybe others have had bad experiences with him though. I do know for a fact though that he will work on t3's and told me that even though the t3 pipe jigs were long ago destroyed, if he had my bike there in his shop to measure off of he would even make me a pipe. Can you eleborate more on your experiences with him greenhuman?
