After looking at all the readers rigs and photos of 83-85 200X's, I have noticed that all the trikes I can see the swingarm on look aluminum. What confuses me is that the swingarm on my 83 200X is a larger, thicker steel looking one. At least I think its steel but its painted blue and where there is a couple chips in the paint of it, it looks like steel. What is the deal with that. Aluminum is lighter. Does anyone know where this swingarm came from on my trike?

The stock 83 200x swingarm that I have is more round than my 84-85 200x swingarm. The 83-85 swingarms are steel.

Alright, Thx. I was just wondering because I don't know anyone else with a 200X to compare to. In all the photos everyone has an aluminum one. I bet aluminum is much lighter.

the 83 is round tubing and the 84 and 85 are box tubing. i am almost 100% sure they are intercangeable.

they look aluminum but they're steel, the 84-85's are just square and the 83 is round and ugly :D

That's the beauty of silver paint. Even steel items can "look" aluminum. When all else fails, and you can't determine what it's made out of, use a magnet. Magnets won't stick to non-ferrous (aluminum) metals.
