Guys,
What brand/kind of spray paint have you found matches the original honda color for the front forks/gas tank. I have used several red colors and they are not even close.
Thanks,
Duane

I checked the Honda store in town and they informed me that not only did they not list a color code for my Big Red but there is not even a name listed for the color. I finally ordered paint from Dennis Kirk which is the red for 88'89 Honda and matches "fighting red". Looks great on the Trike but is not the original color.
Here's a heads up everyone: I ordered new rear fenders from G&H atv in Tennessee and they are great looking and tough durable plastic and, lo and behold, they pretty well match the original color. Problem is they are quite a bit darker than the aforementioned paint I bought.
After all the work I put into painting everything but the new fenders I discovered that Krylon makes Fusion, (color name-
red pepper), which is ideal for plastic and it is almost the exact color of the fenders I bought from G&H.
Bit of a long story but bottom line is you can get real close to the original color if you look long enough. too bad I didn't look a little longer the first time.
Another factor to look at is price. PJ1 which I bought from Dennis Kirk is almost $8 a can while Fusion is about half that.
If I had it to do over I know without a doubt what I'd do.
hope this helps.

You might try some touch up paint from an auto store. The red that is on some of the Honda cars from that year might match pretty close. I am afraid that if the stuff from Dennis Kirk or another ATV Specialist doesn't match perfect, you will have to do some trial and error. I am rebuilding a 85 TRI-Z and I used Dupont Ford red for the frame and other small parts.
If you want to redo your plastic, that Krylon Fusion works awesome if you prep it good.
Knowjesus,
The colour you're looking for is "Honda Passion Red", colour code "R109". It's the same for all the 80's ATCs with red paint. I think the guys at www.vintagemotorsports.net will be able to help you out as to where to get it, as they've done numerous HIGH QUALITY atc restorations. The guy from there is on this forum. I think his name is "VintageMan" or something like that. I'm sure someone will see this post and confirm his user name.
Anyway, hope it helps.
Cheers,
Jez

When I first messed with 'dolling' up the Showgirl a couple years ago, I paint my frame in spots with some red paint we had in the shop here on the farm. It was 'International Harvester RED' paint for tractors. I just touched up some spots under the seat and by the footpegs... can't see a difference in where I started and stopped.

Sunrise red is good but looks orangeish in sunlight and doesn't match Honda or yamaha

For die hard Honda Tahitian Red colors, (my favorite) for late 70's early 80's Elsinores, the color code is duplicolor DE1632 Chrysler red. For powder coat, RAL3020 Traffic red.

Most paint stores will custom match any paint in a spray can. I would take one of your parts and they can match it. International harvester red and massey's Ferguson red are really close as mentioned above.
