Hey...

Started my "Project Yamahaulers" tonight. Weather was half way nice so I could unload my trailer from MIK6 and then take the trike I got from Trikeaholic down to the shop too after I did some spring cleaning down there.

Since Holic's was complete, I am going to get that one going first. He had the engine running by the time I got it, but said wierd noises were coming from the rear end so we didn't put it in gear. Looks like the guy he salvaged it frm had just pieced it together, as I have found a number of loose bolts here and there and once he couldn't start it to test, gave up on it til Trikeaholic came to rescue it. I noticed that the axle lock nuts next to the rear diff were missing.... found one in the 'pail o parts' that came with it. Praying that that and the rear brake system dangling on the axle were making the noises.

We put the transmission in gear when we loaded it on the trailer. I need to flush the engine oil yet BUT..... I can't start it cause it's stuck in gear. I can't get it into neutral. It seems to shift up fine, but can't get it to shift down. I think it's in 5th gear now, cause when I push it by hand quickly, I here the engine turn over and suck air. What should I look for? What's the deal with the linkages??

I am finding more missing parts on my second YTM200ERN. The nice thing is that parts for these go pretty cheap on eBay. MIK6.... add the battery box, reverse lever, ignition coil/wire and top of the carb to the search list over to your friends shop with the exhaust and the other parts we talked about.

Thanks guys!

The shifting problem is most likely the shifter shaft end opposite of the shifter lever ( inside the motor ). They tend to break when slammmed into gear a lot.

I do wished you lived closer. I could help you have a larger fleet of the Yamhaulers. I got 2 that I am hoping to get together and running this summer myself. ;)

If the shifter shaft is broken, why would it shift up but not down? I was wondering if the linkage is loose, since everything else seems to be. I'm going to start there and hope it's not the tranny. I have an extra clutch system in the 'pail o parts' but no other engine parts. The extra recoil and stator case are going on the one from MIK6

Picked up a rear axle and final drive this morning for $21 on ebay just in case there is rear damage in the rear end. I love it when they are not listed right! There's an identical auction where the guy said it was a 200E differential and it's got days to go and at $150!

I have seen a couple with the shift lever assembly broken at the red spot in the picture below. ;)
