How much do you have into it?

edog
03-09-2004, 09:17 PM
The guy i bought it from wanted $600.He couldn't get it started.I said how bought i give you $300 right know.He said it's a deal,I went to the bank and got the money. The funny thing is that i was not going to drive 5 hours somewere to pic up a trike. This place was only 5 min from my house. My friend also purchased a 1986 Honda 200X for $900.I have about $3,000 invested in money and a 100 hours in work time.My next project is a 1985 250Z tri z.I can't wait to get my hands on one of these.I will be getting one of these this early spring. :-D

Coming soon project Tri Z

Ya i took them off to wet sand them down. This takes a while, but well worth the effort. You can't buy the OEM Sky Blue side covers anymore. So i am forced to do more searching. When i'm done they should be looking brand new.I am going to put some custom lettering on them as well.Something like YAMAHA

Did you make those rear mud flaps? I am missing a pair for one of my Yamahaulers.... what type of material and where did you get it? I'll try to get pics of those 225DX mud flaps I have here. The weather turned on me... cold and snowy again so haven't gone out to find them yet cause I haven't unloaded my trailer from going to MIK6's!

that the rear plastic on your yamahauler will fit on my 1985 225 dxn.And for the mud flaps,i would go to a yamaha dealer and order them. The last time i checked they were still avaliable.I did some costom cutting on the right mudflap to componsate for the Over sized Cobra exghaust. The only differance between the plastic is the extra holes on the front black flaps. The mudflaps are under $20 each.

There are tons of places to go rideing around her. There is a cool place to go right at the end of my road. You can also ride to two atv dealers. One Trailblazers,Kens Yamaha. My tires come in in 1 day.Got 22 11 8 ITP Mudlites. Can't wait to get my hands on a 1985 250 Tri Z.They rip,got big plans for that.

If you wet sand worn fenders you can bring them back to looking good?

edog
03-10-2004, 10:54 AM
You need at least 3 differant grits of wet sanding paper.Starting with the course, then medium, fine. This will take a while depending on the size and color of fading.I can do it for u if your intersted for a small fee.

I seen in another post that it will do 75mph is this true?? if so how?

Also there is a mod you can do to the rearend.. it changes the gears with another 4 wheeler or something for a higher topend.

edog
03-10-2004, 06:32 PM
There is a gear in the rear transfer case that can be replaced with a bigger one out of newer shart drive atv.The result is a higher top end.

Well if you are going to keep it I guess it is still cheaper then buying a new quad. It looks like you did an excellent job on it. Just one thing, now what are you going to ride?

edog
04-14-2004, 12:19 PM
I ride it for 3 hours a day.Mon thur Thur.I take very good care of it.I wash it off everytime that i get it dirty. Then i use black magic to make it shine.I am trying to get a 85 tri z to restore. :)

Nice trike man. I also have a 1985 225DX sky blue. Not as nice as yours but complete with everything working. Its a monster in the snow and loves the hills. Blues are hard to find..... alot of yellows and black YTM's.
Good luck and thanks for restoring a part of history of our sport.
