250sx (Dan) has one that as far as I know is still for sale... he wants a little much for it though. Your best bet would be find someone that can aluminum weld, and have them make you one.

I havent ever seen one by itself for sale. Ive seen a Tri Z on ebay with the tank installed, but none off a machine. Thats gonna be a hard item to come by, and not very cheap I dont reckon. good luck though.. Ill keep my ears open for you.
Welcome to the board!
There was one on ebay a couple years or so ago. It's the only JP I've seen in 4.5 years of watching ebay. I could have missed some if there were any others. There has been a couple others on ebay but they, in my opinion, were terrible looking compared to the JP. I'm not sure what brand they were or if they were home-made. And like Chainsaw said, we've seen a couple on trikes that were being sold.
I have a plastic tank under my airbox cover on my 85. It's not a tri-zinger tank. not sure what it is, it was on it when I got the trike a few years ago but it fits good. I'd like to build an aluminum one that goes under the cover to keep the stock look of the Z. If this plastic one of mine ever busts, I'll be SOL because I'm not switching to a Zinger tank and I don't want to go to stock.
Would love to see pics of your MX Z. In my pic below, you can see the gas cap on top of the airbox cover.

well thank you guys for the input. this board is very lively. nice to see. :) I must say that im stoked to find a community of hardcore 3 wheeler fans alive and well. I will find that darn tank sooner or later lol. just to give you guys a little info about my Z. it is a factory modified 86Z. i was a support rider from 85-87 and got my parts and bikes at half cost. (lol really my dad got them half price) the bike was modified by Tom Fleming a renound yamaha tech and deliverd to me ready to race. it has ohlins susp front and rear, dura blue axle , and yz250 bars and throttle ,as well as yz levers. the motor is a 6 speed bottom end with a 86 yz top end. it is balanced ,ported and polished, lightened and knife edge con rod. it has a yz60 igniton and lightened flywheel with a barnett clutch.(tried the stocker but fried em). It has 12:1 comp ,with a custom reed spacer (yz cylinders sit different than the tri) and boysen reeds,a 38 mikuni carb bored out to 40 and a custom aluminum airbox with k&n filter. overall we tried to keep it as yamaha as possible without sacrificing performance. i have tons of old race pictures as well as video that ill try to post sometime. this bike is about to be totally restored( just need odds and ends) and is not for sale. Once again , its nice to meet you all.

ya a yz 60 . ok for all the guys scratchin their first pube. (lol jk btw) yamaha did make yz 60s until 83 im pretty sure. a yz 60 ignition on the trike along with the light flywheel makes it rev really quick and really high rpm. it was standard for alot og guys then to swap out the ignition and flywheel. Trike made aftermarket ignitions also.

is it spelled Trike, or Tryke?? I have on on my 85, but never could find any info on the things. It was on the machine when I bought it, and man it really surprised me first time I took the cover off.. doesnt resemble anything to what Im used to seeing. Just looks like a little piece of billet to me...
tell me a little more about those tryke (sp) ignitions.... cause I cant find any info about them.

Ohlins suspension front? What does this consist of?
XFR_Dozer

hmmm chainsaw im not exactly sure about the spelling . lol but you sure described it right. wierd lookin little bugger huh? the ohlins front susp consisted of rods and the valving. basically all the internals for the front susp except the springs, those are heavy duty yamaha . ok its Trike Enterprises. last known contact #s:2761 Toledo St. #903 Torrance, California 90503 phone (213)533-1023 . hope that helps. gl. as far as the internal workings of it im not really that familiar but i bet Dean (old fart ) lol could help you out.
