Hello everyone,

I am looking to modify my 1983 ATC 185s to include higher compression/bored piston, cam, K&N, and Supertrapp, and I want to find an authentic 26 mm Keihin carburetor from 1979 - 1980 era Honda XR. I am learning that finding one that is not a knock off is difficult. I did talk to DrATV who has a replica about which he says "If you're looking for Honda quality don't buy this one, but if you're looking for much better than normal China carbs = it is."

Does anyone here have experience with these DrATV carbs?

Is there any way to find a good authentic 26mm Keihin from this era?

Also, do any of you have experience with XR and XL cams from the same era? In terms of power-band, I think that I have heard that the XL is a good broad power delivery, and the XR lends to more power but in the top end.

Can anyone confirm this or is it different that I described?

Thank you for any and all information.
