Has anybody tried these replacement fenders?

Reviews are all over the place, no mud flap holes, mounting holes don't line up.

Just looking for actual experiences from trusted associates. ;)

I contact them last year when I was looking for a 250R front fender and asked the difference. They told me the lines are a bit crisper then maiers molds and color was more true. I Bought maier since I know them and I'm going to ride it and mess it all up.

I've bought some TPO fenders but I don't know if it was from them. I may go back and look.

Generally, nothing fits or holds up like stock, but that was probably 30 years ago when the OEM were available from Honda. As you know, anything available now OEM NOS is only worth it for a garage queen.

All of the big name aftermarket plastics I know of now are vacuum formed. Injection equipment and mold costs put them in the realm of large OE manufacturers only. I used to work in that and the amount of molds sitting around and collecting dust was a huge amount of $$$ that wasn't bringing any in.

I did look at their website, and what I read didn't make me feel comfortable with their product.

After going through a page or two, this is what it looked like to me...

270927

I don't know if they had AI generate the description or it was a Chinese company. The address is in Texas. I didn't research past that to find the owner.

They're way overselling the product on the website, and with bad English. That's a red flag for me.

I forgot there was a Monster in the fridge, lucky me. Now that's open and I delved into KTX a little more.

This is all public information and free. A few minutes of searching is all it took.

Going here, https://www.corporationwiki.com/p/3cztyi/ktx-pro-inc, shows the business connections (Network Visualizer).

You'll see they are connected to, owned(?), ran by MINH-KHOI P LY, which is connected to nail salons.

https://opencorporates.com/companies/us_tx/0803595842

The bad English on their website makes sense now.

I didn't see anywhere on their website about where the plastics are made. It's not made in Japan, the US, and certainly not Tajikistan. I just threw that last one in there for a laugh, everyone should be able to point to Tajikistan on a map :)

Most likely they come from China. I don't know if anything like that is exported from Vietnam or Korea.

If it matters any, Maier plastics are made in USA and they're a long time supporter of the aftermarket ATV industry, and also responsive to personal orders (with a quantity minimum).

If for some reason you're not wanting to use Maier, there's Fullbore. https://www.fullboreinnovations.com/

I don't know anything about Fullbore, never bought anything from them. I have purchased from DC and they were certainly lower quality than Maier, but do have some products that may be exclusive to them.

Anything vacuum formed is not anywhere near the quality of detail and fit as OEM. That's just where we're at now, or welding busted stock pieces and painting them.

You know geography well.

If you ever get that way, their capital, Bakalakadaka, is a sight to see.

Thanks for the input, as well as the geography lesson:lol:

Sorry for the lack of attention to my thread, been busy hunting. Unsuccessfully....

I got into it and felt like I was going left field with your question, but I do like to know where things come from and factor that into decisions.

I'll try and look back at my history and see where the ones I have came from before commenting on them.

I'm glad you got a laugh out of the geography silliness. I only thought of it from the Electric Six lyrics for Flashy Man..'running all his money through Tajikistan'.

I'm probably late now, but I'd caution you to not watch any of their videos around other people. :)

They're another of those goofy, fun, witty bands like Bloodhound Gang and raunchy compared to the Presidents of the United States of America, which were a great band to relax to and just have fun.

I really feel for you if someone sees you watching the E6 music video, Gay Bar. Images of Abe Lincoln probably won't seem the same anymore and having two pennies to rub together will have a different meaning.

The dude's stage name is Dick Valentine, so...

I bought a front and rear fender for my 200X. I was really pleased with the color and quality when they arrived and my bike was torn down. Now I see there is no cut out for the rear brake MC, the interface from the rear fenders to the tank is not even close. It’s so bad I’m buying a set of Maiers this week.

The front fender looks good and while it doesn’t have the brake line slot like the OEM, neither do the Maiers. But the issues with the rear fender are so bad I’m sending the KTX stuff down the road.

The plastics are also very hard. Like, if they shattered, and I think they may past their point of elasticity, I’d be afraid of being impaled. Maier is only a little more if you shop around. I’d wouldn’t recommend KTX Pro.

I received a set for the ‘85 Tecate project I’m working on. At first glance pulling them out of the shipping box they looked good. They had an adhesive plastic coating in them to protect the glossy surface from shipping damage, and it seemed to have worked as there was some rubbing that would have scuffed them up. Currently the trike is stripped down to the frame for paint, but I hope to have it assembled well enough over the next several weeks so as to fit the plastics in place. I’ll post up the results and attempt to upload photos as well.

I will put this all to bed...since not one person has uploaded photos. PICs or it didn't happen. Most guys are going flame a new company trying to enter the market like its the next Jared Fogal. If something does not fit or work lets talk to the company and offer solutions. I know most guys just want BIN BOLT on my brain cant work ya know BRAH type of parts....but 35 years ago Maier didn't even come pre-drilled with 1....not even shinny. We bought those fender because it was SOOOO nice to have new stuff.

Lets appreciate a new company trying to step up the game and enter a hard game.

REVIEW TIME.

Twice the thickness of Maier. More ridged then Maier and OEM due to thickness. Every hole lines up on frame dead nuts. Maier still can do that. Brake line holders formed in...still somthing Maier can't do.

Restro garage queen...KTX
Racer (that really races....Maier)
Utility trike....KTX all day
KTX for anyone who wants a different color than maier is willing to produce. Now remember there is DCplastic also...most guys are not saying (HUH) a very nice economical brand I've personally had Tecate fenders remade by them.

KTX comes boxed nicer than Maier.

WOULD I BUY AGAIN........if there was a color I wanted and could not get in Maier....yet.

KTX crisper lines, nicer shine....non of which I care about. I just wanted black fenders for my 82-84 bigred....I mean BIGBLACK $318 shipped to my door with tax. Not bitching.

Story over about KTX. Buy them if the fall into you requirements, go ride and scuff them the hellup....most of us will choose Maier because its a vintage ledgend name and it's all we know.

I’ll post pics and a more extensive fit review once I get them installed. The Clarke tank came in and I can say the color match between the KTX plastics and tank is very good.

Regarding the KTX plastics, I finally got to the point where I could install the front fender on the ‘85 Tecate, and the predrilled mounting holes were spaced incorrectly, by about one hole diameter inward. An easy correction, but annoying. I do like the design of the front fenders as it is shorter than stock (in the back)which was a mod I planned to make, so that feature makes up for the hole misplacement. I hope to have the rear fenders ready to install in a few weeks and will try to have feedback then.

How well have they held up? I'm looking to get some for my 250sx and the ktx are way cheaper. I use mine as a yard work and trail riding trike, I've had it almost a year and never had an accident in it.

Still in the loft. Not done building the trike yet.

NOTE: Do not use Acetone to clean the KTX plastics before application of graphics - it dissolves the plastic. I did a quick wipe-down (like I normally for for any of the normal plastics I install race graphics) and it surface melted, even left some of the remnants of melted plastic on my rag I used. Not a huge deal for me as a sticker is going down over top, but lesson learned.
