125m confusion

Hi everyone, new here.
I tried searching for some 125m info but I’m no better off lol. So I’ve owned maybe 25-30 trikes. So I know a little. No expert tho. So,, I’ve owned the 84-85 lay down motor with es. And I have a 87 with es and reverse,upright engine. I went and picked up another this morning and now I’m confused. Maybe I don’t know what I thought I did. This is a 125m. Upright motor. With es. And high/low range. And the lil lever is up on top like the reverse on a 84 big red. Not on bottom like a 110. Also that side of the case is black. On my 87 the entire engine is silver. Anybody got any idea what I have. Lmao. Thanks in advance for any info.

Hey Kent, welcome to the site.

Things have been a little slow around here, but somebody will get back to you. I will mention though that this is one of those situations where a picture is worth 1000 words, but because you’re new to the site you’re probably not gonna be able to put one up until you reach 20 posts. If you know somebody else who is a member on here, maybe send them a photo of your trike and ask them to post it up.

Sounds like an 86/87 125m

I don't believe that the 86/7 125M had a low range (but may be wrong) so I'm guessing that someone swapped engines.

Definitely didn’t come with a hi/lo in 86/87 .
I guess it’s possible someone put a 1983 200es motor in that chassis .
Check the cc on the cylinder to see what size motor you have .

I would have to agree with Shortline. Sounds like a motor swap to me. The 86-87 ATC125M did NOT have hi / lo range. They are chain drive, electric start, with reverse.

Please post a picture of the motor in the frame for a positive identification.
