Will an 85 take an 86 rear sprocket?Yes, but you'll need to switch to countersunk style sprocket bolts.

Excellent. That's what I needed to know. I could only find Sunstar would make a direct replacement for the 85.
What about the rear brake rotor? Are they the same between 85 and 86?

What about the rear brake rotor? Are they the same between 85 and 86?Yes, they are. For the sprocket bolts, get bolts that fit the '85 sprocket hub, but are countersunk. You can't use the '86 countersunk bolts, as they are a larger diameter. The bolt holes in the '86+ style sprockets will be much larger than the '85 bolts, but the countersunk holes will keep everything centered up correctly.
