350x clutch cover question.

This is an 85 350x. What is the purpose of the pin on the inside of the cover right beside the hole the kickstarter shaft goes thru? The boss it presses into has broken out. I have had and ran this engine for many years. Never pulled the cover before. Didn't find the pin or any of the boss parts when I took cover off. Could they have been missing for years and no effect? Trying to see if I need to replace this cover of can still use this one. Thanks.

I think they are just to help with locating the cover. If you've been riding the trike for several years and are sure that you didn't cause this, then I'd keep riding it.

If its this pin- its part of the decompression system. It allows the system to reset when kicker is back at the top of the kick stroke.

Ok not running a decomp cable on this one. The lever the cable hooks to has never moved right. I guess that explains why.
