I am starting to build a 1970 US out of the cheapest, trashed out parts I can find. I will get some videos up of the build on my youtube channel soon but for now here are some pics of what I have done thusfar.
I picked up a front fender, well, about 2/3rds of a front fender and went to town on some sheet metal with a hammer and vice grips. Unfortunately, I don't have a full original fender to compare it to so I was just eyeballing the measurements off of pictures. Anyone with a real one wanna let me know if I am "fairly" close???

That's some excellent metal restoration Bigfoot! Johnny Cash would definitely approve.
You'll know it's me when I come through your town
I'm gonna ride around in style, I'm gonna drive everybody wild
'Cause I'll have the only one there is a round.
Take care

And here is 3/4 of a rear fender I started with. I made some foam molds for the missing parts and layed down some patches of fiberglass, then an entire fiberglass mat on the underside. I still need to put a full mat over the top but things are looking good so far.

I have one question about the 1st gen foot pegs I am hoping some one can answer. The support section of the foot pegs are painted black on mine but the foot pegs themselves are solid rust. I don't see any trace of paint or plating on them. Just wondering what is correct for the pegs on a 70-71? I see pictures online of some that look painted black or silver and some early pictures and borchures where they look like they may be zinc or chrome plated. I just can't tell for sure. Anyone know what's right?

I don’t know if anybody’s gonna believe this, but I was singing that song in the shower 10 minutes before I came on and saw this post.
“Honey, take me for a spin” LOL!

Fiberglass is pretty easy to work with, but it's miserable work. Just looking at that is making me itch. Then there's the fumes from the resin; ugh.
Good job on saving that rear and front fender. I'm enjoying seeing you fabricate things.
That video thumbnail is clickbaity. Besides, we all know that's not crap, that's high priced Ebay wares. I occasionally deposit some in the county's future archeological site, AKA the landfill. I sign it first, so I'll be of historical significance in 1,000 years.
They'll be like 'Who was this Oofburt fellow?'. If anyone gets that word play, enjoy.

Ya, that's why I leave my fiberglass work until it's warm enough so I can work on it outside upwind :)

Here's 2 pics of my K0 and K1 models which I believe are unmolested. It's kind of a galvanized looking finish if that helps any? The ends appear to be chrome. Dang I should've taken close-ups...I can if you need them.
