Looking for a good 200x crank for a friend. He’s restoring a 1985 and the teeth are worn out on the crank where the timing chain goes. Any ideas on any one who can fix it?
Thanks

The sprocket is still available.

What I've done is cut them off, which is using a small rotary tool like a Dremel to cut a slot, but not all the way through. Cut as much as possible until it splits on it's own or use a chisel to tap it open.

Cool the crank, heat the sprocket, and drop it on. It needs to be lined up on the first shot. There's no keyway or pin to align it.

As far as who can do it, any competent machine shop should be able to handle it. I guess a standard type of press could be used to do the work but you need some blocks specifically made to support it all. I don't have a press and have done them with the previously mentioned method. It kind of goes back to the days of replacing ring gears on flywheels.
