Is there a specific rear axle that would be a good start for fabricating rear suspension on the S model trikes. Looking at a TRX200sx rear wing arm it looks like it uses the same style axle as the S models. I am seriously considering picking up a complete swing arm and axle and having a local welder/fabricator put it together for me. Any thoughts?

You're on the right track by using a TRX200SX swinger. If your local welder isn't a buddy, it's probably going to be somewhat costly, but it isn't a big job. You'll want to have it all figured out before having someone else do it. If possible, you'll want to keep the airbox and that'll mean paying attention to shock placement. It may interfere with the rear trunk on the 200S also.

In all, that's a good idea. Those used swingers are actually affordable and there's absolutely no need to source some super expensive vintage kit. Those kits were around before any 200SXs became parts machines and besides the early sport trikes, most were still hardtails and there was a market for those kits.

Good luck and please post your progress.

Thanks ATC! Ordered a swingarm and bolt. Next up will be a decent shock and hardware. I have one frame that was repaired near where the axle mounts. That will be the one I chop first. I'm tossing the idea around of fabbing it up and putting a couple tack welds on it and then having our local welder lay the beads on it for me. I've done a ton of welding but I'm far from an expert!
Take care
