I like the '87 , but I just got finished restoring the 84 and have not ridden it that much. All in all I like the '87 best!!!!!

I really like both of them, especially the '87...the headlight is really nice, as the fenders, wheels, motor and the rest is... but I must admit the '84 is cool too 8)

does that 87 have a key switch somewhere on it? I am told that's the only difference between the 86 and 87. I did the same headlight mod on my 86, they come out looking really sharp if you ask me....

Welcome to the board tecatemantodd!
Awsome job on the resto, starting to warm up to the Maier low-profile plastics. Loving the enduro cyclops style headlight in the 87. Trick.

I wish my 84 tecate looked half that good. Does it have an extended swingarm? How much money do you have into that 84? Very cool colors. Lots of red on that one. And that 87 is very sweet. WOW! -D

Thats the first time I have seen a good pic of a red tecate. They both look awesome but I like the 87 better. It has a more unique look to it. If you took a quick look at the 84 you might think its a Honda and I like to stand out. But both trikes look great, good job.

I have @ $800 plus the $250 I paid for in the 84 red Tecate. I'm not sure if the swingarm is extended or not, I know it's not a stock swinger. I just got finished painting the wheels on the '84 shiny silver and the hubs red today. I'll post some pics of how they look tomorrow. The '87 had a key switch at some time, but a previous owner removed it for some reason. The '87 also have a parking brake that the '86 does not. Thanks for all the great feedback, I'll post more pics tomorrow.

The '84 after I painted the forks and wheels silver and the hubs red. Looks much better I think.
