'85 250R rear brake rotor that fits

I bought a Braking rotor that fits on the hub but that is too thick. The OEM rotor and an aftermarket rotor that I have are both .156" whereas the Braking rotor is at .208". Any recommendations for another that is known to work?

I put a Braking wave rotor on mine years ago. Yes, it’s noticeably thicker! I’m pretty sure I was installing new pads at the same time too, which only exasperated the situation. I had already eliminated the rear parking brake, via a block-off plate, but the parking brake piston wouldn’t retract enough to allow the new pads to go over the thicker Braking wave rotor. My solution, was to grind down the pin on the parking brake piston, which allowed it to retract further, thus giving the required clearance.

I've got a block off plate too and the pin ground down. Both pistons are retracted flush. It's always a tight fit with new pads and a normal rotor; there's no way for one that's this thick to work.

Mine is on an ‘86, but I don’t believe it should matter. I know my brother used a Galfer wave rotor on his ‘85, and I never heard of any issues mounting it up. I will ask him tomorrow though.

Thanks, that's one I'm considering. I don't want to have to do this several times to find one that fits.

I talked to my brother today, and he can’t remember the brand of his rotor, but I’m sure he told me it was a Galfer. He doesn’t recall having any issues mounting it. He measured it, and its .170”/4.2mm thick.

I threw in the towel and sanded the pads to make it work. I only had to take .026 off each one and it's back together.

I threw in the towel and sanded the pads to make it work.That may be why mine went together after only grinding the pin down. I can’t remember for sure now, if I replaced the pads or not. I know when I did the front, I installed new pads. Well, I’m glad you got it figured out with no further expense.
