I sold my friend a 1984 Honda 200m. Did lots of riding with him, ran great first couple years. He lives 4 hours from me now... He said recently, he had gas pouring out of his overflow hoses, which to me sounded like a stuck float. He took carb off, took float bowl off, sprayed everything donw well with carb spray, etc . Put carb back on, and now he says its not leaking out the overflow anymore, but the machine hesitates and stumbles in the low to mid range....said it takess a bit before it finally starts revving out. Sounds like it is starving for gas. I asked him if there was a inline filter between tank to carb that might be possibly plugged...he said no.
Can anyone suggest what might be done to help the situation?
Is there a screen in fuel tank or petcock area, that might be pluged?
I'm thinking he should just get a new carb rebuild kit (I "think" they include a new float....does anyone know?)...and have the carb ultrasonic cleaned, and rebuilt...
Input? Suggestions?
Thank you in advance for any and all input.
