Edit: Converted Pro Tapers specs for the Contour bars to inches and added it to the 10th post if anyone would like to see those in inches and not millimeters.

I’m in the market for a set of bars for my build. It’s got a lot of different things going on but essentially the closest thing it would come to in style would be a 200x, but it’s got a 250r front end so it would need bars that fit a second gen r. The majority of riding on this bike will be trails but I wouldn’t mind throwing this thing around a track once in a blue moon. I see alotta guys are liking atv high bend but I have a 185s handlebar mocked up on it currently and I feel anything with more rise than it has would make this thing look really goofy. I’m currently looking at Pro Taper SE bars. I measured the pull back and height to be roughly 4” and 4” on the 185s bars. I can’t run them cuz the R clamp width is too wide for the stock S bars so I’ll need a set of bars regardless. Open to any suggestions on types of bends y’all like to run. Wanting a compromise between comfortable high rise/sweep and the less goofy looking Mx bends.

Here’s the bike with the 185S bars

She has got great lines, a suspended 185s and 250r front end. Very nice choices.
Sorry I don't have an answer other than find a 250r replacement bars.

May I ask what the swing arm came from?
thanks

Thanks,

Its off of an ~02' Yamaha Warrior 350 I used the linkage from the warrior as well. Shock is off a 92 yz250. Stock 185s axle assembly bolts right up to the upper bolt holes, have to drill the lower two tho.

I seems like any of the generic 'ATV High' bars are close to the stock bars you're using.

Being real, the stock bars are already pretty tall and have a lot of sweep. Just about every aftermarket 7/8 bar you'll find, close to the same bend, aluminum or steel, will have a crossbar.

The crossbar will be the perfect height for hitting your chin, if you plan on jumping that thing.

The fat bars may be something you'd prefer on that. Good flex, but still stiff enough, and no crossbar. You'll have to keep in mind the height added by the adapters, and figure that into the total bar height.

I have a ProTaper, Raptor bend on my YTM200. With the adapters, they're really up there. This is a hardtail though, so having a good bar height while standing was important.

The stock bars, with the metal counterweights, are about the smoothest riding bars you can use, but they bend really easy.

Thanks King,

About how much height did those adapters add? That contour bar does look good.

Take a look at the bars that come on a YFZ 450 quad. I'm running them on my 450 trike and really like them. Nice and compact. Pro Taper.

Can anyone confirm if these fit an 83/84 250r triple clamp? There’s no specs on pro tapers website.

They should. 7/8" bar clamps are 7/8" bar clamps on most things. It's a standard shared by domestic and foreign motorcycles and ATVs.

You already found the answer I was going to post. They raise the bars 3/4". They're also going to set the bars back a little, because the original top mounts are slanted back.

I've got atv mid rise bars on my R and X and I'm very happy with them, but I'm also a shorter guy. The set I just put on the X are Pro Taper and did have a cross bar but it's removable, so it's gone, lol.

Thanks guys. I think I'm gonna run the pro taper adapters and a pro taper contour bar in ATV low bend. Also I have a hard time comparing measurements using the metric system so I converted all the Pro Taper specs to Inches for any one else trying to decide what bar they want. The specs they have on the DennisKirk site, that are in inches, are way off so don't go by what is listed on their site. These were pulled straight from Pro Taper's site and converted in Excel.
