Hey guys,

I thought since my other thread had gotten less focused on flipping bikes, with the addition of my video escapades, I would make a new thread strictly for videos
Feel free to post/discuss the videos, I welcome all suggestions, even those from the peanut gallery.
I hope you enjoy, tonight's newest video.

Here is the Standard version, I filmed this in 4k, it will take about another hour to process it.

Suggestions and ideas:

1) plastic stapler

2) Just keep buying them and working through them like the 84 200 because no two are alike.

3) I enjoyed the brake one because that's the s I run into all the time!

4) Very simple but removing and installing carbs on 250sx/es drive me crazy

5) Just keep going, you are on the right track

6) fails-You never dyed your fenders?

7) Guest stars: Any surviving Skynard members would be good LOL

04-07-2021, 10:14 PM
Thanks guys for the support, and suggestions.
Yes, I would like to see it through and see what I can make out of it, I have several more ideas I want to cover. and may be a full buildup vs just repair.
I know that the videos are to long for entertainment purposes, but for educational purposes, I try to cover a lot of information and keep it in 1 video.
I plan to make a series of short videos, of simple problems and repairs.

Views are coming along nicely, but subscribers are kind of slow. Studying the back side of YouTube, I know my core audience is 40-50 year old men
I not a super model and us old guys are stingy with the subscribe button. So its going to take awhile to break through.
I have never been on social media, but had to be to make this work, I have had a lot of people ask a lot of questions, so its been nice to be able to
help them out when I can.
I had no idea the amount of pressure a camera puts on you, I film about 2.5 hours to get 25 min of usable footage. I have already filled up a 2 tb secondary drive and a 1tb primary.
I hate to delete the footage, but filling up drives gets expensive and not easily accessible but it may be quicker to just reshoot whatever I needed. I quit the long intros, and start right at the task at hand.

I thinking the videos are getting better each time, at least I hope so.
Again, Thank you all for your support in this venture.

Just watched it and enjoyed it. I would like to get one of those blast cabinets some day. Just to do some small parts so I think the Harbor Freight one that you have will work just fine for me. You didn't say what you're using for media. Is it glass beads?

MrConcdid
04-19-2021, 11:18 PM
Thanks for watching,
That cabinet was $400- a 20% off coupon, I would find a used one on market place/craigslist, or make one. I am thinking of making a bigger one using this one as parts.
I use black beauty blast media from tractor supply, I tried the walnut shells from Harbor freight, it was not course enough, for my low pressure.

I do not know where my post went. perhaps I did not post it after typing?? anyway, I watched 2 parts of the 200e into the 200x. And I am enjoying watching them. I did something different than what you are doing for the rear brake. Have not done an electric start but have made 3 "auto x's". The best one actually had a 185 motor in it. you go further and deeper in what you are doing though. Your vids are educational and helpful.

Update! I found my post on another thread. I had not realized in my tired early morning mind that there was more than one thread. LMAO. Love your stuff. Thanks sir!

MrConcdid
04-22-2021, 11:36 AM
Thanks Wild200x,
I am still trying to find my groove, My videos are too long, I know but I feel that, to really show someone how to do something it takes time, I can't stand some TV shows/videos that just tell you they did something off camera.
It's a hard balance for me, I know I talk to much, I would like to think I am speaking to people who may not have a lot of mechanical experience, I received an email from a young fella, who doesn't have a father, and he is on his own fixing an old atc. I want to have a channel where I can share what I know from trial and error myself. I am no mechanic, and have no formal training. My 9 to 5 is about as far from a mechanic as you can get. I was touched by his email, and I hope I have been able to help him out, I know there are several generations of young people who don't have a fathers now, or they don't have anyone in the family that is mechanical. My dad taught me the basic's, that's all I know, I would like to pay that forward.

I am really a behind the scenes kind of person, This is a whole new world for me, I just opened a Facebook account for the first time 2021 at the same time YouTube and Instagram just to promote the videos, I have stayed away from social media as long as I could. I hope one day I can get the "entertainment" aspect to shine on the channel as much as the teaching part otherwise, I am not sure how successful I will be.

Over all I am growing, I don't have anything to compare it to, I gain about 5 subscribers a day and I just passed 15,000 views with a total of 333 subscribers in 4 months.
Thank you for watching and I am glad you found it useful.

Thanks Wild200x,
I cut my cable tv cord last year, I went straight internet based programming, a few apps for the family Disney and Amazon prime, I watch things that I am interested in now (mostly Youtube vs what just happens to be on at the time. I save $107 a month leaving dish network and using two apps, my internet is cable and fast enough for 4k if I choose it, it also helps when uploading video, I built a specific computer for my video editing, its nice but still can take 25 min to compile a 20 min video in 1080HD, longer for 4k about 40 min. upload is longer as well almost double. (sorry nerd talk)

Thanks for the compliments, there are moments when I am goofing off, like talking about the blown speakers, and making Bob Ross jokes, I think would make for a much more entertaining video (believe it or not, I am kinda known as a funny guy). I mean come on, a mechanic trapped in a morticians body, how could I not be.
I have to work on the balance between humor, education and getting something completed. The channel is growing, I will surpass 400 subscribers this weekend and 3k watch hours, it has really ramped up in the last few weeks. I have finals this weekend and then I am finished FOREVER no more school, I hope to be able to devote more time to the channel. I think there is a place for a small ATC channel on YT, there is some competition, but nothing that focuses on as much ATC repair as I do. As fun as it is to watch someone else ride along, or talk comparisons, I feel there will always be a need for sound mechanical repair advice and tutorials. I am just trying to carve out my niche.

Thank you all for watching and supporting my newest endeavor.

watched a few of your videos this evening. great job! hopefully it gets more people into our hobby.
on your pricing three wheeler videos, you can't be more right about region vs prices. Actual sales prices vs asking prices. 300 to 400 bucks for a running complete 185s seems to be the most you can squeeze from a buyer. jim

MrConcdid
07-20-2021, 10:20 AM
Thanks Jim,

My goal is to put together a catalog of the most common repairs for these bikes, most ATV shops are refusing to work on them now, that and there are a lot of kids that do not have a "father" figure to teach or explain basic mechanics to them.
I hope in some small way, I am educating the next generation as well as saving some of my childhood.
My Channel is not hyped up and flashy, its a "How to" Channel, I hope with clear and easy to follow explanations.
Thank you for watching, I really do appreciate it.

we're kind of lucky in town here, we have the go to three wheeler parts guy. Brian's been parting these things out for decades. his inventory is getting a lot smaller than before, last time i was there, all the 70s, 200x and 350x parts were all gone. fortunately he doesn't ebay stuff and has stuff priced for the local (cheap) buyers.
jim

MrConcdid
07-21-2021, 09:40 AM
Yeah, Its funny, about e-commerce.
I have touched on this in other posts but selling online comes at a real cost to the buyer and the seller.
Ebay takes up to 30% depending on the cost and type of item sold - PS2Fixer can attest to that.
Shipping oddly shaped heavy items gets expensive fast. Shipping a fender or engine will kill most deals.
I recently (last week) shipped a kids 70 from Florida to Nevada with insurance it was $550 (Pallet, truck freight) its taking 10 days to get there.
Aside from the cost to ship there is the real cost in time and materials, packaging, boxing and crating, taking items to the shipper or waiting for them to come to you.
Selling local is always the best for both parties, the problem for ATC guys is there isn't a huge demand for 30 years old parts locally. So you are very lucky Jim Mac.

Schlepp29-
The 185cc-200cc covers so many different models, I kinda fell into what I had available around me, in my rural part of America hard tails and working bikes are the most common, and I think they are the
easiest to work on too. So when buying parts bikes, a good 200s and 200e parts bikes, those 2 models will support most of the other models for good hard to find parts. In my other thread about "flipping bikes", I mention this
and how cost effective it is to stay in a narrow field of products.

Again, I can't say it enough, Thank you all for watching the YT channel and supporting my crazy venture. I am building a shifter cart now, powered by a 185s!

Your right Jim, Its been since last year since anyone used it, its 5 years old and falling apart. I was on my second pump and 3rd set of hoses, the seams were leaking and the bottom was bleach out, its time for a new one.

I don't think anyone considered a in ground pool as a investment. sort of like investing in a boat. jim

I've built, lined, and serviced in ground pools and pumps on the side for a few years in the past. It's the most expensive hole in the ground you'll ever own and it's the expense that just keeps on giving. There's good money in pool contracting if you're on that side of it, but as the homeowner, I would say you REALLY have to do alot of swimming to ever get your money's worth. People love them anyway and pools are great for attracting friends and family (who don't have pools) to your house.

As a wise man once said...

The second happiest day of my life was the day I got my pool. The happiest was the day I had it filled in.

Wife started hounding me for one when the neighbors were putting theirs in. AKA the Jones theory to those of you in sales.

I told her to keep track of how much they use it and how much time they spend maintaining it. I’ll bet in a year they haven’t spent an hour in it, but they spend at least that much a week cleaning leaves out of it.

It’s beautiful to look at, but I think I’d rather use my money to buy a picture of a pool, hang it up in my yard and spend the rest on beer.

Wow, and I thought I was in the minority of non-pool people.
I have a few friends that have them, I just dont think my family are pool-people, at least not 40k worth.
This is our 3rd above ground pool, for what it is and the low cost, its a great toy, This last pool cost $500 and a couple hundred a year to keep it up, new hoses and pump. it lasted 3 years, I am very happy with the cost/return.
Since I have a backhoe, I have considered burying (1/2 the wall height) of a above ground pool and then put a deck around part of it. kind of a happy median, and still cost less than a couple grand for the 3 plus yeas we would get out of it, I think it would be fine.
I cringed at 40k, but I passed a truck at the dealer last week for 80K so i guess in some strange universe its all relative.

Thanks for watching, I should hit 1000 subs by the end of the month. that was my goal for this venture, it has taken me 8 months, that's 1 month longer than expected, but I have have had a few set backs this year.

My mother went in the hospital for some unrelated issue and came home with covid, while taking care of her, the whole family came down with it.

love your videos! I'd stick a carb on it and see how it runs. I bought a 185s off a guy that said it used to run. get there and the motors seized up solid. soaked it with trans fluid for a day and got it to turn over. when I got it started it smoked bad, more I ran it the less it smoked. now it doesn't smoke at all. Then there's that other 185s that literally blows oil out the exhaust when it runs. jim

congrats on your holy grail! and the trail 70. I did the same, threw out ads, word of mouth and ended up trading a 85 atc70 for my 72 sapphire blue 2300 mile survivor trail 70.
like your videos say, it's funny about location location location. I rarely come across the big reds, 200m orbthebutility trikes. I've bought and sold a few but nothing like the 185 200s trikes. Air cooled 250rs are a lot more common for sale locally, but the 3 or 4 I've picked up in non running condition, when I did get them running, 2nd gear was bad or went bad in all of them.
I think my unicorn trike would have to be getting another 87 200x. I've had 3 of them and would love to get another. (maybe search my 12 year old threads to see some pics.
It's going to be fun to see the new videos on the 250r build. jim

I am on cloud nine about this bike and the build.
I feel like I owe it to this bike to bring it back to life, more so than others, I can't explain it, may be I just want it more? I don't know
I will tell you all here its a very low production number bike, like #26 of that year. its like a dang time capsule, lol.
No compromises its the real deal.

Jim mac
11-29-2021, 08:13 AM
about 12 years ago I had a guy answer a want ad. I get a call at work, guy says I see your looking for a trike, are you interested in a 250r? For 600 bucks? I asked about the year which he didn't know buy UT runs and has a title. so I left my bed cover at work, went to the bank and checked this mystery trike out. yep, beautiful 86 250r, got it home, putted it around the streets, decided I didn't like 2 stroke and sold it. I underpriced it at 1000 bucks. guy that bought it thought the ad was wrong, begged me to hold it for him until he got to my house which I did.
it was one of many mistakes of selling something I should have kept. jim

MrConcdid
11-29-2021, 11:06 AM
We all have those regrets Jim Mac. Luckily its was just a 3 wheeler, I passed on a 1963 2 door hardtop impala w/ a 327, I was young and it would have broke me at the time, but it will always be the one that got away.
I wont let this one get away so easily, I had a few 2 stokes dirt bikes before, they have there place but might not fit my riding style now. I really want to see this one brought back to life.
I am not so naïve to think it will just fire up and run, I am sure it has a real problem, the question is can I find it and fix it!

Thanks for sharing
MrC

350for350
11-29-2021, 09:21 PM
Sure you can fix it! Now that I've watched the video, I'll say that I wouldn't hesitate to buy one that looks like that if it's for a good price. Those kind of things are only cosmetic.

MrConcdid
11-30-2021, 12:39 AM
As for pricing, I think I did good on it, I know I have always been Mr. price talker, but I didn't want to air the sellers business, he is local and youtube is kind of a big stage. I paid $700 for the bike like you see it. Its production number 26 of the 1986 model year. I think that's pretty cool, it doesn't change anything but I like it.
I was going to flip the clone by Christmas (paid $150 for it) but I really like it and it runs like a top. I would like to paint it the gold or green the real 70s came in.
When you find killer deals sometimes its hard to let them go when there really cool. I have already sold off most of my collection (hardtail bikes). I am down to 10 or so bikes now. I really want to sell a few more, I have to get focused and quit getting side tracked with holy grail bikes lol.

The 250r story is just as I explained it in the video, a friend, had a neighbor, that knew a guy. that simple, the issue was, if I didn't get it soon, the seller knew people where talking about it, it wouldn't last a day or two. Afterword's I called my friend and said I had the bike, he said man, that was fast, I said you cant wait, like blood in the water, the good deals won't last.

I am working on a end of year video, kind of a wrap up, I don't want to bore you all, so I am trying to not make it a slide show, There may be some voice over work we will see. The YT channel is growing everyday, its really is amazing to see. over 1600 subscribers now.

Feel free to voice any suggestions you would like to see in the future for the channel.

1600 subscribers. That's pretty good. I am proud to say that I was #6 or #7 on that list.
Keep that 250R. Love it. Treat it better than family (ask me about my family and you'll know why I say it like that). And know that you've just made me and probably many other jealous with that price. Good choice on not saying it on You Tube. I hate giving out much personal info on a forum like this, much less on some type of social media. Admittedly these forums are probably many times safer than social media is.

Jim mac
11-30-2021, 09:38 PM
I think its good to thin the herd once in awhile. it looks like you have plenty of room but trying to keep so many in running condition, tires aired up and not cracking, carbs dried out and needs torn down before riding. critters eating wires or upholstery then you have so many you don't really appreciate the special few.
I have a lot less room and really thinking of shrinking the herd to maybe 3 trikes myself. jim

Thanks Patriot1,
I really just lucked into it. I would have bought it, even if it was an 85 and been just as happy.
Its really is a bucket list type bike for me, I really never thought I would have a liquid cooled R. I have cut my teeth on all the 4 strokes,
Kinda' paying my dues, I guess. I was thinking about it. In the last 2 years I have owned 1 of every model except the 110cc and 90cc. I have passed on a couple 110's cause they are hard to resell, and I have not found a 90 near by.
I think my buying days are behind me now, I have the bikes I have always wanted, I am going to use the Youtube channel the build them back up. Not showroom new or all original, but nice rider quality.
I may even sell a few to fund this new direction, but I am pretty happy with the selection I have now.
Again Thank you all for supporting the channel, and I hope, I have given you some entertainment in return.

Your correct Jim, I have not. My 350x was a 50 footer when I bought, never having one, there were things I didn't see. Since buying it I have been steady dumping money in it, it still needs a lot of work.
Its a pain to start when cold, I need to go through it, that will be next after the 250r gets up and dependable. I gave a fair price for it, in its condition, I'm not complaining. I just need to focus on it.

My goal now that I have the R is to focus on the top tier bikes, may be flip a hardtail here and there but, they no longer interest me like they once did.

I was as excited getting my 350x as you were getting your 250r, I know the feeling of finding the unicorn. I thought about just keeping the 350x 70 and 2 of the 185s (titled with ohv stickers). But the 3 wheeler gods decided to punish me and blessed me with 3 more 185s projects, 2 200s projects. You can't fix them all but it sure is fun trying too. I think I mentioned it in another post. locally the 185 200s trikes are more common. I don't see as many big reds as you guys back east seems to. maybe it's the reds we're bought as farm implements and around here it's wide open deserts to go ride? Looking forward to your 250r build, maybe I'll luck into another someday. jim

Better start looking nationwide and be ready to drive...the top tier bikes are out there but not like they once were. And they go fast when they appear. If you're doing that R, do it right. Like all these old 2 strokes I'm sure it'll need a crank (crankworks in AZ is pretty good) and new bottom end bearings, seals, etc. Sure you may dump 5k into it but it'll still be worth much more! Looking forward to what comes next

"order a ton of parts" - that has to be my favorite line to read in a post. I can understand the budget, just as long as pretty comes along some day, lol. I enjoyed the video. I'm cheap and would try to bring the tank and rear fenders back as much as I could too. I do need to try this on the plastic tank on my 250ES someday. It doesn't have to be perfect, but the sun faded color does bother me. 268707That's the example of my tank. This one will just be rider quality. My next one will be the looker. The only thing that I heard that didn't sound right was about the oil change. I know that my 97 KX250 and my 88 Tecate4 don't have oil filters and I think that the 250R would be similar. Maybe with the fresh oil and some ride time, the clutch will free itself.

liked the video. has anyone tried actual auto paint for the rear fender? I'm talking paint like they use on the plastic front bumpers? I believe they add flexo into the paint to allow it to flex. Paint supply places can mix colors, add the hardener, add the flexo and sell it in a aerosol can. jim

Jim, Bigfoot Bikes and Brew did paint his fenders on his 110 resto. I have a friend in the auto body business who says that he has done the same thing as he did and it held up well. The 80 grit scratches may show up after a while if the paint shrinks. He said that he goes to 400 before painting, but that 180 grit would probably work. I think that the biggest things when you paint plastics are the adhesion promoter and the epoxy primer. The flex agent is a given though.

I may be wrong here, but are you sure that is wasn't a Honda Grom? I haven't heard of a Honda Gnome. You're right about people. With ATVs in general, not just three wheelers, I've met a lot of good people and am friends with some of them. I've also met some who weren't worth bragging about, but not too many. As far as the seat cover goes, since you're not building a museum piece, go with which ever style you want. In fact, build the whole thing how you want to. I've ridden a 1981 250R both stock and after YeagarB went through the engine, a 1984 250R with a DG exhaust (I don't know if anything else had been done to it), and a stock and a built up liquid cooled 250R (I don't know what years they are). At the risk of being lambasted for my opinions, I preferred the stock 3rd gen and the 81 before it was gone through. They just fit my riding style better. I don't need to get there as quickly as possible. If I owned a 250R, then I may change my opinion, but since I don't I prefer them to be stock. Great video. I will be waiting for the next ones into next year.

Hey 350for350
Its been years since I have ridden anything like this, finding out when the its going to kick in is going to be my biggest learning curve, I am use to 4 strokes with more steady increase in power, this is going to the some getting use to.
As for mods and such, when it comes to motor, I care more about easy to start, and longevity, I do not want to have to kick it all day to ride it. I just want to enjoy the it. As for the seat, I liked the 250r print better, than ATC, as for height, I am not that tall so the shorter seat may be better. Once the rear brake get sorted and hunting season is over, I will be doing some trail riding with it. It still needs a lot of work the suspension is very soft, I am such a sock rebuild would do wonders, I do not like the 22 in tires I will go with 20s I think with factory gearing, I like to keep the rpms up on a 2 stroke, since I am not a fast rider the smaller tires should help with that.

For that video, I almost didn't make it, I did not get the 450 caliper put on because the brake pads didn't show up, the front brake hose I ordered was to short, I was striking out and running out of time, yes I mis-spoke its was a Honda Grom (lol) I even tried the front brake hose off a 200x, but it didn't fit either. They really saved the day.

Thanks for watching, I am glad you liked the video.
Merry Christmas

Hey jim, you might be right, I have a lead on some 84 250r parts now, I may pick up.
I am kinda' jonesing for a honda FL300 or Fl400, I have never had one, I remember seeing a fl250 as a kid, it was a "real" gocart.
We will see. I am looking forward to 2022 for sure, Personally I have school and now my licenses behind me
After 5 years that monkey is off my back, feels like a weight has been taken off of me.
I just passed my state boards this week, so a lot of that energy in this video is a result of passing that.
Thank you watching and your collection is growing fast too. lol

I used to want a FL250 when I was in high school. I didn't get to ride one until I was about 30. I rode it across a field at top speed. The gopher mounds that I hit going that fast changed my desire for one really quickly. I had marks from the seat belt for a day or two after that.

I am enjoying watching your channel. I always have had nothing but hardtails and have always had fun on them. When I was in my late teens, I got to rip my friend's 250R and Tecate around the Glamis sand dunes and they are super fast and fun. But, in my 50's now, and I think a 200X is about as fast as I want to go now. So, on the hunt for a nice one. Still, fun watching you work on that two-stroke R.

Keep up the great channel. Also, for what its worth, I really enjoy the vids when you teach. Rebuiling the pull starter, changing the square connector to a round connector to run the cheaper CDI, fender repair, etc. Have you tackled rear bearing replacement on a hardtail? I would enjoy seeing that.

MrConcdid
12-30-2021, 09:08 PM
Hi Flighttofphx (great movie)
I have not done a video on rear bearing, I have changed several sets , but nothing on video.
I did just video front bearings on the R, but have not released it.
Thanks for watching, I have enjoyed making them.
A 200x is a great machine, fast enough to be fun, and provide soft ride and disc brakes, it really is a great all round bike with a hand clutch.
If I a recommend 86 or 87, these have better frames, stronger engines, and are not prone to the slipping kicker problem the 83/84 and some 85s have.
Like you I started on on hardtails, I still enjoy throwing one around, and agree the R and 350x can be a handful.
I would love the opportunity to blast flat out across the dunes, that must have been so much fun.
Thanks for sharing

Hey Jasong_10, That's a great idea, Q. how do you like the 18 inch rear tires on your R?

Love them. They make gears 1-3 pretty short but I went up a tooth in the front to compensate (you could drop one or two in the back as well if going up one in the front still left them too short for your liking). My favorite part is the look and stance, with the rear lower I don't feel like I'm "tipping" forward while riding, and it feels much more stable while turning/sliding.

MrConcdid
01-01-2022, 08:28 PM
Those are all the same reasons I like a smaller back tire, wasn't sure how the R reacted to an 18, which is what I am leaning toward.

just watched your new video. That lineup of sport bikes getting impressive! I'd love to have half your room to build and play. your right about finding so many more hardtails vs sport bikes. Is there a atc70 in the stable? If not is it something your looking for? Locally it seems the biggest 350x baddest 250r and the smallest atc70 are the ones that costs the most, everything else is in between.
Only comment I will say about buying trikes. Buyers stand in line when someone else has one for sale, I throw one up for sale (usually mine are the cheapest, running atc on craigslist) and all I hear are crickets. Actually they always sell, but we're talking 5 to 600 bucks for running hardtails with titles.
Can't wait for the future videos, I loved the boneyard extra. If I had room, I'd have a atc whole herd of atc's. jim

Hey Jim,
Thanks for watching. I have had a couple atc70, but i have sold them all. I have that ct70 mini bike, its a clone, they sell strong right around 1k. I have 175 in that one, it runs like a top, i mean better than a sewing machine. lol
yes, I find scratched and clawed my way to the big 3 250r, 350x and 200x. You all have been a part of that here @ 3wheelerworld. Between this thread and the "who flips trikes" i have documents most of the bikes I have bought /built.
Now that I have them, I just want to make them better. the 250r starts so good its hard to believe. I want to get the 350x running that good. I have almost sold it because its hard to start.
Thanks and Jim.

Yeah, I've got Razr MX style tires on both my R and my X, and I'm very happy with them. There are a ton of 18" tread/compound options out there as that's what most MX racers run, combine that with the ability to adjust gearing and tire pressure, and the possibilities are almost endless. Then regardless of what setup you have, with the R you can always override it with the throttle :)

So the question is, do you put a 200m front end on a trx200 or do you back half a 200m with a trx200?
I say 200m because of the better front end than the 200es.

I say 200m because of the better front end than the 200es.

'84 TRX200? That should be shaft drive and basically the same engine as a 200ES.

Depends on condition. That's a vintage quad and still a pretty good choice for light work around the place. If it's not all beat to hell and mostly complete, maybe put it back into operation condition.

If it's missing enough of the major parts, maybe part out the rest and use the rear suspension on a 200ES.
http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthread.php/48722-200es-suspension-install/page2?highlight=200es+forkshttps://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww41/flatfender_2009/5_zpsyamhx4df.jpg

Put the 200M forks on the 200ES too.

The early quad models are steadily coming up in value like the trikes. Finding one with good fenders and overall not completely beaten from sitting unprotected in the elements is the hardest part.

MrConcdid
01-24-2022, 10:36 AM
Because I put 200m forks on my 200es's, it would make since I think to, skip the 200es completely, graft a 200m front end onto a trx200. then add the front Big red mounts to the 200m front end.
I just did a video on exactly that adding Big red racks to a 200m.
That combo would make the Ultimate Big Red (200cc)

Thank you sir, yes the odyssey video has taken off, it has surpassed the 250r video, which is a huge surprise to me. When I released that video, I figured it would bomb, I had no idea the odyssey was so popular.
The whole YT thing has been a huge learning curve, I just had my one year anniversary. It's hard to believe I have been doing it that long, you would think I'd be better at it.
95% of the comments are positive and the sub counts is growing faster everyday. My goal has always been to reach Harvey Spooner level. At that time he had 27k subs. He has over 30k now. I have always enjoyed his channel and in some ways emulated it.

Bigfootbikes I do enjoy your camera work and voice over, that's something I need to work on, I think that would allow me to shorten my videos and cover more material.
Keep plugging away. The quality of you channel is great.

I have learned so much about YT already, like the pay rate varies each month, Dec was $12 per 1k, Jan. Is $4 per 1k. That's a big difference when you have a video hits 30k views.
But I'm enjoying it, and as long as I am, I will continue.

MrConcdid
01-28-2022, 08:51 PM
Checking both helps the most.
The bell- sends notification to you that we posted a new video
the subscription adds to our total (helps with unlocking goals set by Youtube)
Your allowed 1 subscription per account, that subscription follows you on every device.
so if you logged in on your TV it would show you the same recommend videos as your phone.
the like and share buttons; the likes are counted towards viewers happiness (yes YT monitors that too)
and the share of course spreads our channel to others, the best thing you could do is share a video you liked on other platforms
like FB, twitter etc. that gets us the most views and the most bang out of your watching.

Thank you all for watching my silliness, and supporting the channel.
I hope that the exposer of 3 wheelers has helped this site. This is where I got my start

I've always like YouTube channels where theres just some normal "Joe" showing us the things he or she is doing....and talking to us at the same time. You build-up this relationship with your audience and your audience feels like they know you… and they do by your videos. Nothing really fancy....just a personal experience that builds a bond. To Mr.C I'm just another jabroni he wouldn't know from Adam...but to me he's that dude that pulls piles of crap left for dead and shares it with us.....he's Mr. C. We live vicariously through him.

I can't remember but there's this kid who goes around and documents old abandoned ghost towns in the US. At the end of the month hes got about a 150000 views ....... Nothing spectacular….. nothing fancy… nothing over produced…. Just some kid with a gopro and mild narration showing us things. When I say kid...maybe mid 20s?....and to me he's likeable.....hence his success.

Itchy boots..... It's a channel I just found from some girl (mid 30s?) from Norway taking a Royal infield Himalayan from the tip of South America all the way to Alaska. There's a little production and every now then she pulls her drone out when she gets somewhere to take some nice pics but at the end of the day we're riding with her… it's like we're her passenger and she's just talking about bumps on the road and where she's gonna stay and she's tired and everything that we would feel doing the exact same thing. She's like my side action b!tch and I'm digging it. Again she wouldn't know me from Adam but I know her....that bond.

Do not take it personal bigfootbikes....but your videos to me come off over produced. It's like a 90s how to video from Whirlpool demonstrating how to change the filter in your furnace. Sometimes I feel your trying to hard. Just talk to us. Tells us how cold and windy it is outside without the 90s music in the background. Your replica bikes with the little Chinese engines!?!...mouth watering! What's being forgotten is your incredible talent and vision in your projects.....which is super cool!

Just my thoughts man.

okay, we saw the hesitation when you went to open the airbox lid. So what kind of creatures have you found opening up these swamp fresh finds? jim

MrConcdid
02-02-2022, 11:39 PM
I found a rather large snake skin in the 250r airbox.
a very Large spider with fur on its legs on the 200x that became the Van Halen Bike
a dead mouse in a 200s
about 500 ants in a 200es muffler (came out when it fired up)
1 green lizard on a 250es big red
and a couple hundred different types of spiders over the years.

I have always had a fear of finding a snake, I had an uncle find a live snake in a flat tractor tire, it was living in there, he said he worked around the tractor all
day getting it loaded and never saw it, brought it home, as he was unloading it, the snake came out when the tractor rolled off the trailer, the rim cut the snake in half and killed it.

So I have been lucky, but I do not temp fate, I keep my butt out of the swamps during the summer.

Hey Mr C I just wanted to thank you man. I watched your 200XE vid and when my latest project needed an exhaust due to rust I ordered the stainless one you used in your vid. With some tweeking it fit my 200s nicely and it sounds great too!

Hey Aulbaugh,
This is not the OE carb, this is a brand new carb PWK38, I listed the specs on the video, and the modifications to it.
It has quite a few bells and whistles, I am not a carb expert, I'm sure there are some internals mods done by Curtie, as for the add-on's
Upgraded idle adjuster, easy turn air screw, light throttle spring, 7.0 slide, DDK needle, clear fuel bowl.
I'm sure I am missing something, but these are the spec we spoke of, as for tuning, right out of the box was very close.
I want to try 1 more jet change #156 main, #42 pilot, air crew 1 1/2 turns out. air box lid on.
You can find this carb and others on his website along with the add-on's, He can build you one just like it if you want.
As for installation, I had to heat and stretch both rubber boots a little and use larger hose clamps, otherwise a direct bolt in replacement.
check him out www.223cycle.net, use MRCBUILDS in the coupon/promo at checkout and get 10% off

Yeah I know it’s not an OEM carb. I skimmed your video and saw the specs. Carb looks good, those add ons aren’t hard to install. You probably could’ve done it all yourself.

Hey Jim, you dont have to own any, it's a charity drive the Honda Hoaders do annually, the sell products like hats, shirts ect. To raise money to buy a 3 wheeler and give it to a kid.
I'm happy to have been able to help.
This years drive is over, but next year will be here soon.

great video, I have a few tanks that needs to be coated. I have to agree with you on having too many gas toys, be it trikes, cars, bikes, heck even lawn and garden tools. They sit and they will need work.
We drag these projects home, spend a few nights to get them running. Then add in tires, seats, fenders to make them decent, then they get pushed into the back of the yard/garage or barn when the next good deal comes along. Next thing you know that great running trike isn't running so great due to old gas, dried out carb, leaky tires. I believe it's called the rule of diminishing returns?
If you have 1 trike and you do everything to make it great and use it, you really appreciate it, get 4 or 5 trikes and the enjoyments now divided by 5. But none of us can stop at just 1 or 2. jim

Hey 350for350,
Yep brakes are my big hold up, I have the parts ordered, working on the seat set up now.

I pulled my 350x out today, its coming onto the channel soo, going to be a motor tear down/ top end job. may be a full tear down, not sure.
Its always been hard to start, hurts my foot, like seriously (bruises) ran some test today the compression is very low. Worst part I am coming in behind a "wanna be mechanic"
so there is no telling what I will find inside. This bike has been troublesome since I bought it.

I think I have found the 350x problem low compression 96psi and the piston is making a clunking noise at TDC, I would call it piston walk. I think the PO put the wrong parts inside or over bored it, something is not right.
I will be pulling the engine asap.

Yeah, you can't believe how fast 7 days go by, waiting on parts, trying to film/work/editing it goes by fast. My pulse pump couldn't keep up, this thing is a pig, I drained the gatorade bottle twice in about 12 minutes of run time.
I thought the carb was to big, but the plug looks good, and it doesn't smoke a ton.
That's a metal valve stem JB weld to a gatorade bottle with a vent hole in the cap, I filmed that sunday (the same day the video posted). I did have a blast though.
It has little to no brakes, and the turning radius is of a semi truck, the front pushed hard in the mud, I almost hit the fence the first pass, I learned quick you steer with the throttle.
I plan to modify the steering, I hope to increase the steering throw, I can't do much about the weight bias, but the seat was comfortable and gave me enough room, so not to feel as if I was on a child's toy.
did you notice the black marks when I drove out of the shop, its torquey for a 2 stroke.
I like it.
I have an exhaust (mine has a 2 inch hole blowing right at the driver) and brake pads ordered, I think that and swapping the front tires will help across the board, better grip on the front, better fuel burn and better stopping.

since the 70s plastics are so cheap, I vote new plastics and seat. blast and paint the wheels and it will be a really nice trike. there was a guy on ebay selling fiberglass fenders a few years ago. I bought a set for something like 140 bucks. recieved them and a few days later another set showed up. I contacted the seller, he accidently sent the second set to the wrong address. I asked since he already paid to ship them, if I got a discount, id just buy them or I can send them back. So he said just send 75 bucks and keep them. jim

Good job! It would have taken me 5 weeks to figure out what you did in 5 hours. Do you wish that you would have went with tubes from the beginning?

MrConcdid
04-11-2022, 04:04 PM
No, I think new tires was the right call, it will sell faster because there new tires vs dry rotted tires that have tubes.
as for the O rings, its one of those things, you don't know if there missing or not or even need them until you tear it apart.
I am on a 7 day window, to get a new video out, that means ordering parts asap and sometimes ordering things you didn't need. I filmed that about the O rings, before I tore them apart, then when I realized, I needed tires I had to back pedal to have
continuity in the video. New O rings are a good thing, and not that expensive.

Actually, I filmed a overhaul on a yamaha golf cart (a family members)- then felt it didn't fit the channel, so I scraped the idea.
I have brought the 84 200es w/ 200m front end back in and working on finishing it up. lol but yes, it's hard to top a good burnout!

The 350x piston is on the way, the machinist is out of town for a week to bore the cylinder.
The oddy is pretty much finished except for lights.
The atc70 needs a seat and carb leaks before I sell it
The 200es needs a bearing
The 200m may get parted out or sold, not sure.
I need to build some racks, because I am out of space and cant seem to sell anything.

Jim mac
04-25-2022, 07:33 PM
selling the 70 would be just too easy and no value for a video. that being said, make a video of you trading the atc 70 up! see what gets offered and make a video of it getting traded off. I've posted pics of my K0 sapphire blue ct70 with under 2100 miles, I traded it straight across for a 85 atc70. I think I came out on top. jim
