I found our 2nd 3wheeler i think. Its an 85 (i think) 250sx. Its in pretty good shape and its all there... but it does have a blown rear. Im very familiar with honda rear diffs ( i have a fleet of honda 300s and most of my buddies have one too.) I'll take it apart and as long as the pinion gear is good ill rebuild it. I also have one on ebay im going to buy as soon as its on my trailer. Front fender has small cracks near shock, it has plastic tank, (hopefully he has metal one too, I can fix them) rear fender look complete. No rear rack that I seen. He said the pictures make it look better than it does when you're standing next to it but I think it looks great. He's asking $1250... ill let u guys know how it works out.

If it runs and isn't a total turd the price seems OK. Sounds like you have the resources and skills to fix the rest of the issues. Although it doesn't take long to make a 1K machine into a 2.5K machine if expensive parts are needed.

250sx, best all round 3 wheeler ever.
add a rack or not, its still a very fun and capable machine.
Added a 200x front end and possibly a rear disc brake could make it perfect.

We got it! I did end up giving him the whole $1200. It starts right up and runs good. Carb does leak a little, but we were going to run carb through the ultrasonic cleaner anyways. Were going to pull rear diff today and pray the gears are salvageable. I went on ebay to buy the used diff i found... and realized it was from a 250es... but also included in the description 250sx so I didn't order it yet. I want the tall gearing of the oem diff if I can find it. Im not sure how many posts I need add pictures but ill keep adding to this post to get my numbers up.

Turns out rear diff ring and pinion gears are great. Its were axle splines and diff are wasted... so ring gear is part of that... going to try a better axle and that will probably get it going.

I bought a 250ES that had the axle splines stripped at the ring gear. I didn't want to take a chance so I bought a used diff and axle. That's just a warning to be careful. You may end up buying another axle as well as a diff.

Well... I think I have a plan, this might turn into a cool custom build. A honda 300 fourtrax (utility style) is the same gear ratio as big red 250es so if im going to have to live with that ratio im gonna mate the fourtrax diff and axle onto the sx swingarm. The reason is the fourtrax whole rear-end is available piece by piece brand new for very reasonable prices. Ring and pinion set with bearings and seals for like $125, rear axle hub to hub with nuts $130. Plus I have a complete rear-end (my spare) laying around. Im searching for another swingarm to actually modify then swap in. Ill try to take lots of pics so I can post.

It will bolt on the swingarm and driveshaft should be just fine. Only have to deal with one side.

Honda 300 fourtrax rear end mated to honda 250sx. After I add some gussets I'll cap off and maybe shorten the original swing arm axle mount square tube. We went for a short ride Sunday night and it feels good. And like I said previously..... 100% of the parts are available for cheap. Now to figure out what size rear tire to put on to make up some of the lost gearing.

Disc rear brake conversion in the works. I just have to wait for a rear caliper in the mail. I have the disc, hub and mounting material just need some dimensions.

Also... I can always put 250sx whole rear axle assembly back in with a new mounting plate welded onto the tube. I've done it before years ago when we were putting 250es big red rears in the back of our honda 300s.
