A LOT! I would have to guess if a good deal on a NOS 350X engine is 2K a 86 R takeout has got to be like 3-4k??? If the seller is gonna look at this thread I apologize...in that case I wouldn't pay more than $100 hahaha.

Better get it before the TRX guys snap it up.
The market is nuts, so the going rate would be hard to pin down. I'll bet you can find ppl paying $4K for one if they're paying that much for NOS plastic sets
$2K is a "fair" price in my opinion, but thats just what I would pay for one if I wanted it

2k is what I offered him , he has it posted for a lot more !
Has the carburetor , kicker and shifter so all that is a plus I would think ?
Typical cut off stator wires and clutch cable .

if you have a nice trike to put it in, don't end up missing out on it for a few dollars. If you miss out, in a couple years you'll be thinking that the selling price was cheap. jim

It is hard to put a value on something that never comes up for sale.
$2K would be a good deal if you can get it. Even $2500 wouldn't be out of line.
Above that price, and you start getting into the realm of complete running bike prices.
The carb attached is very intriguing. But is it an '85 or '86 carb. I would think the 86 would be much more valuable - it sure is a lot more functional.
I'll be interested to know if you got this for 2K. If you did, well done sir!!

Made the one hour drive north to pick up the motor .
Passed all the NOS inspections . Never run . Outer covers case paint isn’t great but hell it’s 36 years old !
He also had a front brake setup like new that I picked up .

I'd guess that is an 85 carb, as my 85 R actually has the 86 carb (verified by serial number), and that doesn't look like mine. The choke looks completely different.

Custom made, or is that something sold online? Interested in a couple.

It's great y'all are still finding these engines.
From my perspective, I've never paid that much for a running car or pickup.
None of them are worth putting into a protective case though. :(

Same species that will take small pieces of metal and stone and put them in a fancy little velvet lined box in the bedroom when a Craftsman tool box would be much more practical.

Probably not . The value in this motor is in its history as a NOS take out , running it would greatly lessen its value .
Now if the right customer comes in and just has to have it :naughty:

That’s a great find! I love the glass cube display too. I just installed an 86 takeout engine in my 350X yesterday. It almost felt like I was sinning! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210222/06c632d65a9ca623d6f81c60e6737cbd.jpg

That engine really doesn't look NOS, but hopefully it's in good shape regardless.

If you seen it in person you would change your opinion . It’s definitely a nos take out motor .

Here's what a 200S motor looks like in the 13x13x13 box from Amazon.

The valve cover just touched the top. I am going to build a frame around the bottom to get the very small amount of clearance I need.
