I picked up an 82 ATC70 that didn't run and am stumped. I cannot get spark. This has a CDI conversion from Malaysia.
I get voltage from the stator (black wire) ranging from 6v-14v when cranking. As soon as the coil is connected, the voltage goes to 0 when cranking. The kill switch tests fine but I have bypassed it.
I have tried a new coil, and a known good coil from my friends atc70.
What would be causing the voltage to drop all the way to 0 when the coil is connected or is this normal? Has anyone experienced this when troubleshooting no spark issues.
