Has anyone taken the die-grinder to their cylinder and actually done your own port work. I know that you can wire brush it just to get rid of the carbon on the head and ports. Got any tips?

Grinding the cylinder ports on a 2 stroke can whack the port timing all off. I wouldn't suggest doing it, unless you have the special equipment to measure timing. You can port and polish the intake and exhaust on a 4 stroke without changing the timing.

Not recommended at all! As stated above, you can really screw up a 2 stroke. On a 4 stroke, if you MUST do some porting yourself, keep it to smoothing out the casting flaws on the exhaust ports only. Anything else should be left to those who know what they are doing!
