View Full Version : 250sx Clutch Issue?

I recently refurbished an '87 250sx I bought. I have never had an sx before this one, so I have no point of reference for my question. When I'm going downhill slowly, with the engine almost at idle speed, the clutch disengages completely and the machine starts to freewheel down the hill. If I blip the throttle, the clutch re-engages, but if it drops back toward idle, it will disengage again. I understand that it needs to disengage at idle, but is this common on an sx, or is the clutch out of adjustment or worn?

Your one way clutch bearing is going bad or you put car oil or synthetic oil in the motor ? which has to many friction additives and will cause the bearing to slip .

I have been running Amsoil Powersports 0w-40 oil in all of my ATV's since forever, and I've never had an issue. I definitely do not use car oil. I will look into the one-way bearing. Thanks!
