seeing the posts of aftermarket frames, stroker cranks and stuff for the 110s. what was the progression of parts?
did trike racing start with the 110s hence the aftermarket support? when it went bigger, like the 200x, did the 110s fall out of favor? jim

It started with the 90s. They were the first ATC.

Probably the first time that two guys got together and decided to put down their beer to see who could go faster.

They didn't put down their beer. It was all about who could make it around the tree first, without spilling it.

Out here it was up to the top of the sand dune.

It was growing intensely until 1986, people ruined it by thinking they were easy to ride, no training and no helmets...

I was just wondering if tje aftermarket quit the 90s and 110s and focused on the 200x and 250r.
was there a 185 racing class? jim

The 90/110 aftermarket support didn’t quit when the 200x and 250r came out but it definitely slowed down .
Their was no separate class for a 185s , if you wanted to race one you were put into the 200cc class .

My hope would be to find and race 90/110 Race somewhere here in the Midwest before I get to Dam old to compete.

It all goes back to Honda having the patent for 10 years on the three wheeler. They made the 90 up until 78 and then the 110 started in 79. They started the 70 in 73. With only one option you know how it is, someone is always wanting to be faster. Either around the track or up the hill. It was so many cool aftermarket parts for the 90/110 because it was the only option for the first 10 years. Once all of the big Four jumped in it changed everything. The big game changer was when the 250r was released in 81. At that point the 90/110 just about went to the wayside. I'm just glad there are still a few people out there who love the 90/110's and appreciate them for what they are. They are what started it all!

The ultimate would be to get all of the old original Hard Tail Guys from the West Coast to compete. Dean, Wax, Curtis and the like. And of course me/us out there with them.
I'm game for sure.

The idea of a run of Champions on 110s might attract more retirees. I also think a shortened low lap sprint...well sprinting on a 110 isn’t a 250r but throttle pined they sound great! The action would be tight and skilled dicey racing would result.

I'm guessing there were no 6'+ riders winning races on the 110s.

Even a 5'9" rider would be cramped on a stock 110 frame.

That top pic is the L&W Cycle Shop Team vs the Big Hatchie Honda Guys. That is me on the far Left, Daryl Lamkin, Judson Farrow and Chris Richards. Circa 1980 Jud and I go ahead and take the top two spots front headlights and all. :)

Back in the day no matter your size it was the only option. "Wax is a pretty tall guy that was very fast on his 90.

I found those pics on a fb group, vintage Atc or something like that. If anybody has a location they would suggest we could start to look into this. We need to keep it to the vintage 90/110 trikes also be nice to keep it at a senior level, that way we could keep the size of the group down. Someplace centralized would be nice so nobody has to travel coast to coast.
Oh yeah, someplace with some soft dirt wouldn’t hurt.

Texas or Oklahoma would probably be most centrally located....finding a track that would welcome trike may be another thing. There was a track in the Missouri Bootheel a couple of years back letting trikes race. It was a fairly easy TT type track. I agree on the "Senior Class" 50+. :p

Hey Mike, don’t you folks have some soft dirt there in Florida? My wife would make that trip.

Our typical dirt is black muck of about 2-3 feet deep and then solid coral rock .
I do have a track close “Miami MX” but I believe it’s for dirt bikes only .

Here in Davenport we have a yearly motorcycle swap meet chief Blackhawk motorcycle meet. It’s primarily vintage Harley and Indian stuff with some British and Japanese stuff being added yearly. One of the three nights they have a vintage flat track races. I certainly could ask if it would be possible to reserve a day for us. I have no idea of the condition of the track being it’s mainly for stock cars. There’s tracks all over the country with a lot of Atv/Atc groups and clubs.
