which one would u rather have 1986 tecate or 86 250r. i have a very nice unmolested one owner 86 250r with all the original paperwork even has original jets that came with it. i recently got offer a nice non original 86 tecate for my r but i dont think i can give up my 250r for a kawi but tempting the tecate used to be mine i restored it years ago and got rid of it and have a chance to get it back but he wants my r lol what would u do?

I’d want the Kawi for the looks and rarity. An 86/87 Tecate would be my choice for a Japanese show trike, but if I was planning to use the trike then keeping the ATC is a no brainer.

Agree with fieldy. Owning both - top of the hill - looking down.

Keep the R and wait for another Kawi. That Tecate sure is sweet though.

On second thought it's easier to find an R than a Tecate. Make the trade then find another R.

Tough call.

I’d explain to my wife how having every 1986 race 3Wheeler is a 1% ter’s dream. Buy it back and hunt down an 86 Tri-Z for a winter project. Take the wife...or just the machines to TF 2021Mask Off!! and talk trikes and have your own shootout comparison for a long weekend.

They are only original once. I'd have a tough time giving up an all original liquid cooled R for a non-original Tecate. And if I had the Tecate, I don't think I'd hardly ever ride it due to rarity and parts availability.

I have both. The 250R is more refined but the Tecate is more racey. The 2nd generation Tecates are getting much harder to find. They are getting locked up in collections and the prices are only going up. 250Rs are a lot more common. Find a way to get both.

I'd rather have the Tecate because like christph stated, they are getting pretty thin on the ground. Acquiring an R is still just a matter of laying out the cash, I don't recall the last time I saw an 86/87 Tecate for sale in my area.

you made a good choice. That R was origional but wasn't in mint shape. Want to sell the tecate, lol?

Once again Tecate, the most powerful three wheeler in the universe comes up on top. Congratulations on your choice.

The thing about it is, the Tecate can be ran and worked on and rebuilt again, you've already done it. When your friend let's you get the R back, maybe you won't feel so bad about changing the original stock appearance. Kinda hard to start changing stuff on one like that with papers and all. Tecate don't need no stinking papers, lol. Tri-z don't either.

Nice, and XCR rear tires. I wish those were still available in 20x11x10.

I’ve never ridden on those, but they look right at home on there.

Looks pretty clean, is it a legit 310 kit trike?

no 310 stickers are false advertising. its just a regular 250r, thats another thing i have to change

Ah, I've never understood why people do that. It happens even more in the muscle/sports car world, guys are always making their cars look like the next engine/trim level up . . .

Put some Yoga pants on it, then everyone can see the truth.

Yoga pants don't hide things like denim does...

Are the black fenders and tank like saying; no baby, keep the lights off?

You sir are a wealthy man! I'd keep both colors and change them when I felt like something else.

Someone remember that this man needs an 86 Tri-Z in the future.
You should get one as soon as you can, that would be a very very valuable combo. The Japanese trifecta.

Where did you find your new R?
