no, I dont think so, the rod actuates a mechanism under all the clutch basket and stuff on the right side of the motor. It should slide right out from the right side. The center part inside the cases, doesnt do anything. there is a fork type thing on the right side of it that actuates the shifting mechanism. Once you get in there you can see what the deal is. At least thats how it looks to me. The Tri-z is the same, and Im going to assume that most cycle trannys work basically the same.
