The first one is either an 81 or an 82, the 185 in the second picture is as far as I can tell, an 83. 81 / 82 did not have front suspension, and 84's had different gas tank decals. I guess it is possible that that is not the original gas tank, but I am pretty sure it's an 83.

The first pic almost looks like a 82 185S or a '81. The second one is either a 81 or 82 also, looks alot like mine and its a 82.

I think the second one is an 82, cuz of that:

The tank stickers are the same...but I'm not sure if the 81's had these tank stickers...anyway

Hope this helped

I agree with atctim. The second one is an '83. It probably is an early '83 because of the stickers on the tank are what was used on an '82. I used to have one just like it.

well if the forks on the second one are supposed to go on it, it's an 83, and anyways most of the parts are interchangeable beetween all of the years, excepts for some plastics, i beleive...

Get the VIN's to be sure... this is what's in my 350X Parts Manual according to ID'ing year and other info on the frame numbers.

YEs.... it's one of the first pages of the 350X Part Code Manual. It's on CD... all about 7Mb. I have a 250R one too, but that is .bmp and takes up about the whole CD.

i think that frame in backround is a later model like 1978 yamaha 360mx frame. i used to have a 75' 360mx and looks almost the same except to front wishbone of the frame where the engine mounts is diffrent :D
