83-85 200X IMS Gas Tank Issue

For those running an IMS gas tanks on the first gen 200X, how have you dealt with the petcock to CDI cover clearance (or lack thereof). No matter which way the petcock is oriented, it will still come in contact with the cover during normal operation.

I spent a lot of time polishing the cover. I'd hate for the investment to have been for nothing.

Low profile options are costly and often require an inline fuel shutoff. An alternative would be to raise the rear of the tank with some washers, placing them between the plastic tank and steel bracket. All ideas are welcome.262563

Cut some threads off of the tank bung to raise up the petcock. Looking at that pic you have a lot of threads to spare.
