Hello, I have been studying the forums for months. Tons of good info btw. I just picked up an old YT-175 that was parked in the sticker bushes for the past 8 years. I just pulled the motor,(it was locked up), and am trying to figure out what top end I have. According to the vin, the frame and bottom end are a 1980 YT125. The top end has the casting 2A700? 171cc. Any info would be much appreciated. Just trying to figure out what direction to go with this thing.

If you go to a site like this and cross reference part numbers you get a pretty good idea of what you can mix and match: https://www.partsfish.com/oemparts/c/yamaha_atv/parts I like to copy paste into an Excel spreadsheet to keep track.
It seems the RH case half was the same for all the 125 and 175 engines, so you might you can check the LH numbers, crankshafts and connecting rod numbers to see what fits with what.
I noticed that the 175cc cylinder part # changes from 5V7-11311-00-00 in 82 to 20E-11311-00-00 in 83, but whether of not that affects interchangeability can probably be determined by referencing the head, pipe, rod, piston and intake manifold part numbers. If they all cross over the cylinder is likely to interchange.

Well it seems my top end is from a 1980 dt175. Casting 2A7.
