What type of oil do you guys use to oil up your air filters? I see that they make special oil for it but I would think any clean oil would work, even vegetable oil, correct?

I agree, the K&N filter oil in the spray can is great.
Quick and easy and works.

the conventional way is to use regular motor oil or 2 cycle oil, and then squeeze as much of it out as possible. Only problem is that no matter how welll you doo it, you seem to eventually end up with all your oil running down to teh bottom part of the filter. The main advantage to filter oils is thay they go on thin, and then tack up a little bit, and tend to not run to teh bottom of the filter. I too use K&N filter oil on my foam elements. Spary it well and squeeze it well so its distributed evenly.

Tip... Get a gallon size zip lock baggy. put your filter inside and spray or pour in the oil. then squeeze the oil into the filter. No more messy hands!

MAXIMA filter oil is thick and doesnt run off. Now I'm using KN filter oil and most of it runs off the filter and through the airbox drain onto the floor.

Use Silkolene! Its a miracle! LOL, I love this stuff. Goes on thin, and even, then thickens to a waterproof goo. Great stuff, and it really works great. Only prob though is that you need their cleaner to get it out. :(
