The 85 rocker is supposed to be much better than the 84 and I have also heard that the 2nd gens had much better rear suspensions. Has anybody tried swapping a 2nd gen rocker into a 1st gen? Another idea I had was to change the mounting points on my 84 rocker to mimick another rocker.

The link mount on a 2nd gen swingarm is further forward that the link on the 1st gen swingarm, and it is also centered differently that the 1st gens. I think you'd be better off sticking with an 85

You're probably right. I have heard of people swapping 2nd gen singarms on 1st gens and vice-versa so I was curious.

I put a 2nd gen swingarm on a 1st gen, I had to cut the mount off the swingarm and move it so it would line up. I dont remember which way I had to move it, but it was side to side.

The 85 rocker should improve the 84 rear suspension, but the 86/87 rocker is offset so there would be a fitment issue with the 1 gen. swinger.
