Buy it. Common problems would be worn out tires. Worn out chain and sprockets. Check the crankcase behind the front sprocket for damage. The bearings in the swing arms wear out. Brake pads. Check out the air box. A dirty air filter could indicate poor maintence and potential engine problems. Give the frame a good look for damage. make sure the serial #"s aren't ground off the thing indicating it could be stolen. Make sure the rear wheels are tight on the spindle. Check the crank case oil level.
If you buy it, the first thing you should do is have the dealer or some one who knows what they are doing is pull the jug and check out everything. If it has a worn out rod bearing and you just drive it the rod will break and it will be game over for that engine.
I bought an 85 several years ago and the guy told me that he just put a piston in it and everything was good. I bought it and rode it for 2 days and it locked up. I had the dealer tear it down and he found a new piston and broken rod. The dealer told me if I wanted to go after the guy he would back me. I didn't pursue it as I felt for the 500 I gave him I still had a good parts bike.
Even if you get 3 or 4 grand into a complete restoration you still end up with a better piece of equipment than you could ever buy off the showroom floor today :-D
In my experience with R's and 350X's the rod is and should be your biggest fear. They are reasonable to repair if done before they break. After they break game over :(
Just food for thought.

The tri z was 5 speed in 85 and 6 in 86 or so I'm told. Never got into those cause everyone I have ever seen had a new piston just put in to replace the new one that just went.
The Honda was a 6 speed both years!!

how easy are parts to get for the 95 250r i know that the tri-z was a [ain to find anything?
sorry for all the questions but im tryin to see what the future of this trike would be like i dont wanna dig myself into a trap again.
think god that the tank is on top instead of under the seat like the tri-z i spent more time on the rear tires then i did on the front everytime i drove the thing.
thanks again

good news and bad news!!!!!
Bad news: the guy sold the r before i got to talk to him again.
Good news: found a 99 banshee with lots of mods for 2,000
i would hate to go back to 4 wheels but i also found a 350x for under 1,000
so i might get both.
but i really want to 2 stroke trike
so i might be on 4 wheels until i find the trike i want
