Hey guys I have an 85 200m that is going to be my predominately mud/some trail bike. I have a fully suspended 185s for the faster stuff. I'm trying to decide what front tire to go with. My main concern is being able to have good turning traction, I couldn’t care less about the tire ply, I'm young and the tire acting as my suspension is a non-issue. I've come down to two tires:

The maxxis zilla 25x11-9:

259300

or the Kenda scorpion k290 in 25x12-9:

259301

Again my main concern is being able to turn in the slick stuff. If yall have any other suggestions I'm all ears but I'm sticking with the 25s for now, may go bigger later when I figure out how and if i want to lift it. It currently has Maxxis Mud bugs on the back in 25x12-9 btw. It has a stock style knobby on the front currently but it wont hold air for longer than a day.

Most of the time when people are discussing mud tires, forward traction is the main concern. I'm just concerned about being able to turn and not have the front tire just slide on me. I had a knobby on the front of my 185s when I would mud it and it always just slid. My thinking would be the zilla would be the better choice but I didn't know when it came to turning with only one wheel vs having two on a quad.

Any help or advice is appreciated

The Kenda Front Max turns well and has a lot of give if you run low pressure. Might want to consider it if you haven’t already. Be aware that the diameter and width change a lot on that tire depending on how much air you put in it.

BTW, seeing as you’re young and still able to learn, it’s “I couldn’t care less”:)

Thanks for the grammar lesson lol. I looked at the front max but they don’t offer it in a 25

The Kenda scorpions are usually shorter than their stated sizes from what I've seen. I don't see where they would be much different than the knobby in the mud. The Maxxis would be the better choice here.

Yep, the Scorpions are pretty short and don’t change shape much when pumped up, but they are brutally hard riding.

No problem. At 53 I still struggle with lend and borrow.
