Folks, is there an alternative to an 84 200es recoil spring part number 28402-968-004? All searches on the interweb have come up blank for a replacement one; and I don't want to have to buy a complete recoil if I can help it.

Thanks for looking!

Just read that any 450 foreman spring will work, could it be that easy?

The Forman 450 or rancher 350 recoil springs are cheap and should work just fine .

^^I looked on there but they said they were out of stock, I probably wasn't searching on their site correctly. Thanks!

Would be interesting if that part interchanges.

If this works in the 84 200ES, then it should work for the following machines too based on the orig recoil part number.

1984 TRX200
1985-1986 TRX125
1986-1988 TRX200SX
1984-1985 ATC125M
1984-1985 ATC200M
1984 ATC200ES

I might have to grab a one to try out in the different recoil starters I have. Currently don't have any that don't work, guess I'm lucky with working recoil starters.

Update: A big shout out to Shortline, the part I ordered was from a 1999 450 Foreman 28402-HM7-A11 and it works great! And at $15.00 Canuck money, a pretty cheap fix.
