I coded up this page to be a more all in one solution, Honda, Yamaha, VIN numbers and engine serials etc. I also made it automatically processes what you type as you type it, so most machines you only need about the first half of the VIN, or the first 10 for the 1980+ 17 digit VINs. The VIN is never sent to me/the website, so it's a more secure site than the ones that do send it (server logs and such could get leaked).
Supported machines so far:
Honda 3 wheelers (VIN or Engine Serial)
Kawasaki 3 wheelers (VIN only)
Yamaha 3 wheelers (VIN only)
http://atvmanual.com/honda/79-atc-atv-vin-decoder
Here's the pages if you'd like to manually decode your VIN (more models covered here currently).
Honda VIN Table (http://atvmanual.com/honda/frame-vin-and-engine-serial-numbers)
Kawasaki VIN Table (http://atvmanual.com/kawasaki/frame-vin-and-engine-serial-numbers)
Suzuki VIN Table (http://atvmanual.com/suzuki/frame-vin-and-engine-serial-numbers)
Yamaha VIN Table (http://atvmanual.com/yamaha/frame-vin-and-engine-serial-numbers)
Hope you guys enjoy. I'm always open to ideas/suggestions. I have an idea floating in my head to make a per model/year spec page and add a link to the results for more info on the machine, like the spec page on 3ww with HP, MSRP etc. Let me know if you find any errors. In time I plan to add newer models and such in too like quads etc.
I have to come up with my own image to instruct where the VIN and engine serial number is located. I'm not a fan of ripping other people's work off or using service manual images (questionable if it's fair use or not).

Here's some models I'd like to get data confirmed on.
87 ATC125M Engine serial number, does it start with TE10E-83?
85 vs 86 ATC200S Engine serial number, I'm thinking it should be TB05E-24 for 85 and TB05E-25 for 86.
84-85 YT60 VIN numbers, anyone have a service manual to look up the production ranges for the frame numbers?
83-85 YT125 VIN numbers, anyone have a service manual to look up the production ranges for the frame numbers?
I'm unsure what the VINs look like for machines produced for non-USA markets, like the 1988 250ES Big Red, 85 200ES Big Red, etc. Maybe if I saw a few VINs I could validate a pattern (pm , don't post VIN's publicly). I'm trying to make the site be useful world wide, not just USA so any help would be great. I've read Kawasaki used a different VIN standard for the EU market.

Found some info on Kawasaki VIN's and figured out some numbers for the Tecate too. I'll have to have fun updating the script to handle these since it's more exact numbers.

Since I'm checking the valid vin ranges on Kawasaki's website, I put the estimated total manufactured at the end.

Not to keep spamming this thread or anything, but I've got Kawasaki added to the page now. If any of the other brands have solid VIN info out there, I can add them too. They are probably a bit on the rare side to really have much for vins posted online and such, so I'd have to get PM's or messages though my site to validate models etc unless there's a table in a service manual or something.
Currently over 550 lines of code, it adds up fast lol. Got probably 16 hours into research & coding it, but I enjoy coding so it was a nice break from other work =).

Haha, I just don't like replying to my self too much xD. I guess post count doesn't mean a whole lot here, other site's I've been on it's kind of a big deal double posting and such.
Anyway, I made a simple YT60 Tri-Zinger Spec's page. Not exactly trying to copy the 3ww spec pages, but figured I could make that a feature of the VIN Decode tool. Look up what machine you have, then have a link to see the specs on it etc. Basically add stuff to the page that makes sense. Those spec's take forever to type up though from service manuals lol. I'm probably going to format the data is a bit easier to read format, but just wanted to get it posted for now and poke around the VIN Decode tool a bit for how I want to do this. I'll probably make the output a bit more of an actual "decode", like a 17 digit vin that starts with JH1 = Japan, Honda, ATV, so even a random new quad it would show something useful, just won't know which model it is till I add them all.
I have some harness/part work to do so once I catch up more I'll work on the tool a bit more. Just wanted to get something up asap since the other one went down.

Good info here on decoding Honda OEM motorcycle, dirt bike, scooter, and ATC parts numbers.

That's an interesting page. Looking up the brake pin for an 86-87 ATC125M says the part is for an ATC250ES based on that guide though lol. Part number I used was 45454-HA0-000. I kind of figured the center 3 digits was a model related number. Seems like it's the orig machine the part was designed for, so not always accurate, but steers you in the right direction. Pretty neat to kind of have that info confirmed though, and explains why a lot of the brake parts that interchanges a lot got rid of the center numbers. Also nice to know what those extra 2 digits are at the end of the part numbers are for. The last 3 seems to be a version/reversion type of number. First part of the number identifies what part it is generally speaking. Like 34901 is from a headlight, if you search partzilla a ton of headlights come up, and seems like it might be more generic like any bulb.
https://www.partzilla.com/product/honda/45454-HA0-000?q_ref=45454-HA0-000
Ironically, I unknowingly copied Honda's part number system somewhat, like the ATC200ES ignition switch I label as a KS101R, KS for ignition Key Switch, 101 for the application code, and R for to mark that it has a rubber cover for the key. Only thing I didn't do was make the application code standardized across all product lines, but it's nearly impossible to do that anyway. I make the endings change based on features/changes, like if I made a KS101H, it would mean the source part came from Honda (one of my newest codes I've been using).
I notice the orig VIN decode site is back online, never hurts to have more than one site, so I'll keep mine up and continue to work on it as time permits.
Oh, I've noticed Yamaha does a similar thing with their part numbers, at least the little bit I've done lately with them. First 3 characters is the machine model code. Like 38W is a 85 Tri-Z, and 1RX is 86 Tri-Z (not sure why that model has 2 model codes). The wire harness which interchanges to both machines starts with 38W (38W-82590-00-00), and partzilla requires the extra -00 at the end to look up parts.
EDIT:
Oh I really like that PDF, not sure if the info is the same as the other site, or if it gives more info, but I'd defo base anything I'd want to look up on the PDF since it's from Honda.

Updated the Kawasaki VIN ranges for all years and added the estimated production run per year and totals per model. There's more Kawasaki 3 wheelers made than I expected.
If anyone has other VIN numbers you'd want me to find the production ranges on, shoot me a pm with a valid VIN and I'll use the tool I built to figure out the range.

Here's some Polaris Specs. The VIN numbers are not 100% perfect ranges, there's a couple machines mixed in. Total counts are accurate based on model number counts.
1985 Scrambler (W857027) - 1217084-1217095 & 1218013-1218500 (499)
1986 Scrambler (W867027) - 1308687-1309887 (1200)
Was there any other Polaris models that were 3 wheelers? I can grab production numbers for other models too, the scraper is to 1989 machines now and started at 1984. I also threw in a ticket for the prefix 0 VINs not working and the rep responded that he will pass the info to the correct department.

Been a while, figured I'd give an update. I'm working on a v2.0 for the vin decoder so the actual page size doesn't bloat up and do the processing more on server side. Hopefully all goes well with that.
I've bought the identification books for Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, and Suzuki, so as long as the books are accurate, I'll have early atv data covered and such.
As I get the books processed, I'll be making a post to show the vin + engine serial + model info, here's the pages I've made so far.
https://atvmanual.com/kawasaki/frame-vin-and-engine-serial-numbers
https://atvmanual.com/suzuki/frame-vin-and-engine-serial-numbers
Also, side note - these books cover motorcycles too, I feel it's a bit too much data on one page to compile it all together, but if anyone needs motorcycle info I can look it up. I might make a motorcycle (scooters, mopeds etc) version of the site eventually too, not super sure yet.

Just got the Yamaha book, lots of data to add. Almost 200 pages of machines, the Honda book should be huge too.
Small update on the VIN decoder page, v2.0 I have functioning in my development environment, currently doing data entry to get all the machines the current page covers before updating the page. Have a couple small things I want to rework, but overall with my horrible internet connection it works really well. In the long run I'm planning to output useful info relating to each of the results on the vin lookup page, like the specs page, wire diagram, harness pinouts, etc.
So far, this is one of the most used pages on my site, so trying to make it the best I can. Always open to ideas and I recently discovered it doesn't work in the old IE7 browser, not sure if it works in Edge. I'll have to have fun installing the different versions of windows & IE to fully test the features I built that runs on javascript.
Once I get all the ATV VINs covered, I plan to continue adding data in the system to cover motorcycles and such. It shouldn't effect search speed at all and it makes the page more useful/universal. The VIN listing I'll just stick to ATVs though for this site, atleast for now.
Start of the Yamaha Vin/Engine Serial page made -http://atvmanual.com/yamaha/frame-vin-and-engine-serial-numbers

I got the Honda book and added all the ATVs in it to the site. First post has all the VIN table links for the data I have so far. Also have a book more focused on Motorcycles that I think was released around 86-88ish by a 3rd party that covers several brands. I'll have to dig into that and see if anything interesting in there.
Also, this Honda book is HUGE, 525 pages, mainly motorcycles and scooters and covers up to the year 2000.
If anyone has a motorcycle etc they need me to look up a vin in the books, post or pm me.
Now I have the big project of pushing the VIN data into a database so I can get the VIN lookup page tied into it. I should be able to add notes like where machines are made and such too, or target markets the VIN relates to.

Small update, my local version of the script is populated with nearly all of the Honda USA models. 1981-2020. The data source had a few missing machines and 2008 was completely missing, which is odd.
I could use some help with alternative sources to validate VIN data, big time for non-Honda models. According to my post above, Kawasaki's website works for validation, I haven't looked much into Yamaha, Suzuki, Polaris, etc yet besides just the 3 wheeler models.
I still have to figure out the new VIN decoder script to process pre 1981 Frame numbers since the standard changed a lot between models. I have a couple ideas but I have to test to see if it works with most brands or not. New code will also validate the serial number range and properly "decode" the VIN and provide extra info like production numbers (if I have them).
