A few open heart surgery photos !!!!

I will add some of mine later. Just a quick thought.....banshee motors are my favorite. So easy and intuitive in the case dept. I wish Honda had done something similar.

Still much to do. Gotta do something about those tired old wire sleeves for sure as well as that hideous Hi-Low selector.

All new everything. Bearings, seals and clutches.

That is a Bad arse Z1 Nico, what's it's story?

Glad you asked. Most of that engine was in the World record Pro Mod bike of 1976. 9.44 @ 146mph set in Houston TX. First 1200cc Z1 ever built and the first hand made drag pipe EVER built. Terry and Byron copied and marketed it (I shiit you not). Would you believe this idiot sold it for $200 bucks? ( I shiit you not) they called it the ‘Dinko’ pipe.

Len Heromachuck (don’t trust my spelling) built it and rode it back then. He was a Kawi dealer out of Kenora Ontario that did the mods on all the sponsored Kawi sled engines in the 70’s. Everything but the tank is one off fiberglass. Most of the frame I built as Len’s set up was as scary as hell. Lighter than mine, but the think never went straight for more than 10’ at a time. I made it longer sync wider and unfortunately heavier, but I was bracket racing, not trying to set world records.

Len got into nitro bikes and sold it to Eddie Hart who matched the 9.44, but only got to 142mph.

Eddie had type one diebetes and was going blind, so he sold me the bike in 91 or 92. I promptly blew it up and destroyed much of the engine. I took out a $10,000 loan (last time I ever went into debt in my life!) and rebuilt the whole bike from the frame up.

I managed a 9.56 at 146mph one day and sold the bike to a kid I had introduced to drag bikes. Had to let it go when I moved to Mexico in 99. He’s totally redone it. It has a car tire now and has run 8’s.

I love sharing the story, thanks for asking buddy

Haven’t run it yet, not sure if I ever will. It would need bars and a slick to get any kind of a number.

Probably the most useless thing I’ve ever owned, but it’s fun to stand around it and drink.

LOL! Per Liter, so X 3.7 = $4.37 CND % 1.3 = $3.36USD per gallon. Not so cheap eh?

I was planning to stop at your place that day, but when I didn't see the truck I kept going and arrived about an hour earlier that expected. The Harley's eventually showed up and one by one the riders walked by pretending not to look at the Jap crap.

For all you 'merican' RD/RZ 350 and Banshee engine fans, here's what the rest of the World had access to in 1985. Ironic that the one country that prohibited their entry back then is the place that most of them ended up 30 years later.

Some others I found in the photo stack. Sorry they're all in frames.

1978 Suzuki GS750 punched out to 916cc. Most reliable 4 cylinder engine even built in my opinion.

258130

1981 Yamaha XS1100 made into a 1260cc shaft drive death machine. Not my bike, but that's me on it making one of the scariest passes of my life. Had to wear the owners helmet because I wasn't licensed for under 9.99 at the time.

.

The belly of the beast. Ultra rare, 1980 YZ250 6 speed. It locked up on me last weekend during a race, so I am just doing a repair and throwing in some new bearings and seals. Second gear on the pinion/clutch shaft is starting to spal a little on the drive side and it is not available, so I am going to have it cryo treated then I will reverse it on the shaft so the damaged part will be on the decel side where it will get very little use, and should therefore last nearly forever. The left crank bearing journal is also worn around .001" and it was spinning inside the bearing a little sometime during its life, so I am going to put a few light center punch marks around it which will make it tight in the bearing again.

Builds? Done a few.

99 450s foreman...

Bored 2mm, web racing camshaft, wiesco 10.2 to 1 piston, highlifter outlaw centrifugal clutch kit with springs up the rpm's 400 rpms before engagment, ebc dirt racer change clutch with heavy duty springs, new centrifugal clutch shoes, new cam chain, tensioner, ported and polished head, new lower bearings throughout. Went from a 130 to a 155 main jet. Pretty much everything questionable was replaced. The HMF exhaust really makes use of the motor mods, and its tuned to run with the dual snorkels it has. Plenty of power to turn the 29.5 outlaws with the locker in the front differential pulling positive. Actually twisteda rear axle in half from the torque.

Did the same mods to a 350 rancher 2002 model, big improvement.

Built several 450 foremans from the crankcase up.maybe 4 or 5 mostly close to stock.

2001 250 rancher that the piston had turned sideways in the jug from being ran without oil.

Late 90's xr250, timing jumped and hit the intake valve making it a ping pong ball in the cylinder, chewed up the head, and punched a hole in the piston.

1985 xl600r all new top end, bored, new cam chain, valves, tensioners, etc. Wish I still had that bike, dual carb ran like a 4 barrel on a 350 chevy.

Most recently my 1985 200x. New clutch plates and discs, new kickstart assembly, all new bottom end gaskets and seals, new did cam chain, new valves, new 66mm wiesco 12.1 to 1 piston, polished and ported head, web cam 214 camshaft with springs, etc, etc. Let me if I can find some pics.
