Is there a degree wheel in existence for the 200cc series Honda engines?
The cam sprocket is merely pressed on and hope for the best. This is garbage.
The thing should have been keyed in time.
I realize they’re tough and ready little engines but half a tooth worth of cam timing could make the difference between running and running awesome.

I love the 200cc engines and IMHO they’re one of the best Honda ever designed but this is goof a moment on their part.

The lower cam sprocket should line up exactly center of tooth to keyway and with a new timing chain it should be spot on .
A few companies offered an adjustable upper cam sprocket , powroll , big Al’s .
Or just take a stock sprocket and make your own .

You can use a degree wheel. You have to make an adapter to get out from the crank threads...

If you need a sprocket oval milled out, I have a mill, easy cheesey...

Not rocket science just line the dots at 12 o’clock . No degree wheel needed unless your talking a high rev performance cam .

Shortline, I’m talking about the crank sprocket. There’s no way to index it during installation. It’s just pressed on there.
It could perfect or partially advance or retarded.

Parts unlimited makes an adjustable cam sprocket that fits the 200x, was looking at when I built mine. I have seen the kit for degreeing the cam at web camshafts, should be all you need.

Why would you want to index the crank sprocket? The crank is indexed from the fly wheel by the woodruff key.

Obviously you’re not going be off more than a tooth because you just skip the chain up to the next closest link but you can’t more accurate than that.
Again, Honda should have keyed the cam drive sprocket to the crank and the cam drive sprocket would also have be properly timed when the keyway is broached.

Broached? I assume you mean if you shear a key? Instead of indexing the crank gear Honda engineers should have spent more time designing an external kicking mechanism that wasn’t a PITA on the 200X.

Yep I understand your talking about the crank sprocket alignment , I have rebuilt hundreds of 200x cranks .
When you press the gear back on the crankshaft align the center of the sprocket tooth perfectly to the keyway .
