I just got a 200x and was wondering about a cam swap to wake up the motor slightly. I've read quite a few different cam choices that work well. My question is about the actual swap. Can this be performed without removing the motor? I'm new to these machines so I beg you pardon if this is a silly question. Don't seem to be finding anything when I search.
Thanks!

Yes, you can remove the rocker cover for the cam swap while in the frame. I would get the Webcamshafts 389a with upgraded springs and retainers.

Some XR 200 cams will fit the 200x, I think they improve midrange, probably not as sporty as the 389a cam, but still an option

If your going with a cam that requires heavy duty springs then yes you will need to remove the motor . The cylinder head will not come off without removing the motor .
If your going with a cam that doesn’t require HD springs then all you need to do is pull the pulser/ CDI cover and the cam will come out , get a manual for the steps on how to .
