So I picked this Yamaha up a few weeks ago. Just now getting around to posting some pics of it. I went to a local auction because there was a 250es up for bid. The Big Red was hardly even worth being a parts machine. I left there disappointed so I followed up on a lead of someone who had a YT125 for sale that was cheap and in decent shape. I couldn't go home empty handed! I've never owned one of these before. Anyone tell me what year it is? Not as easy to figure out as a Honda. One of my students got it running pretty good. It has a different carb on it but missing the intake tube and airbox lid. It's pretty fun to ride! The headlight is busted out. I'm not sure what the heck I'm even going to do with it. It seems so out of place in my barn full of red.

My vin is 4U3-011678. Anyone know a way to figure out the year of this machine for me?

Good news is, headlights are cheap, $13.44 from partzilla.

Sadly the intake parts seem to be out of production. Maybe throw a K&N air filter on it and pull the air box off? Would have to keep it away from mud etc of course.

Good luck fixing it up, not a whole lot wrong with it =).

I saw that the headlight is still available and cheap. I couldnt believe it! I was gonna throw a UNI pod filter on it and call it good. I don't take any of my machines in the mud so I'm not worried about that. I have a guy who wants to trade me a ATC110 for it. I'm considering it since I'm partial to Honda anyways.

Since you have a preference for Honda's, I'd say go though with the swap, assuming the ATC110 is in similar shape as the Yamaha machine. Ideally you'd match CC for CC, but I think Honda's to have a bit of a premium value. I have a few ATC110 parts too, but both machines I got were pretty stripped down when I bought them for parts (no fenders etc). I'm in mid Michigan, so might be somewhat close.
