I got a 1985 200s, far from mint condition, got it for $125 bucks added some new tires runs good but smokes like an SOB when she gets hot. Well I was thinking of tearing into it and making it into a street only rig since its already street legal (where I am anyway), since I mostly trail ride my 200x now. But this weekend I went riding with 2 buddies, one rode a kawasaki brute force 750 and one rode my 200s. Well the brute force winch cable wore through to the frame, killed the battery, no pull cord...so my 200s pulled home the brute force 750. Made me think of keeping the 200s in its element but making it a mud/snow rig that can go anywhere. Thinking a lift, nothing crazy few inches and some bigger tires, reduce the gearing, rebuild the motor etc. Looking to see some lifted/mud rig hardtails as some motivation.

Could be fun, higher you lift wider you should go. A nice light 3x3 would be fun.

I hear you on the wider, already made my 200x 4 inches wider just by the rim offset. Biggest concern with lifting is stability, and being able to turn big, heavy tires.

If I had a spare hardtail sittin' around, I'd build it into one of those!
