Finally found a nice, clean 1986 Honda ATC350X after a long, long time searching. :Bounce Looked at a few clapped out, beat '85 -'86 Xs' along the way - not many nice original ones left out there. Will be making the trip to p/u in a couple of weeks. Nine hour drive one way. :( Pictures to follow once in the garage. Like a kid waiting for Christmas Day.

I am going to do the round trip in one day. Already was there in the first week of April (to view) while on vacation with the family.

Again - not the greatest pics - I apologize. I have a few more that I will try and post when I get a chance - have to run to my son's baseball game. Can't wait to get it home to clean and detail it.

Make it a great weekend, guys.

Hello ironchop - you are correct - stored indoors.

I think it has low hours on it. The OEM date coded tires show little wear. There are no boot rub marks on the frame. Foot pegs showing little usage. It is missing the OEM side decals (just under the seat) on the rear fenders. Would like to find NOS decals - if possible. OEM plastic is nice - no cracks or repairs. Seat is damage free - soft and supple. Rear grab bar and plastic rear mudflap/decal are perfect - no scrapes/damage. Full set of tools, also. Forgot to ask about an owner's manual.

Very nice!
That 18 hour drive looks like it was worth it. Like you said, not even rub mark on the left side engine case.

Hey Bkvette

Nice find.... Where did you pick that awesome 86 350x from? It almost looks like it was at dealer's/sports store display.... if you don't mind me asking what did that bad boy set you back? So, will it be a garage queen or daily rider?

Hello 350xman, thank - you.

You are correct - sitting in a Honda dealership's showroom on display. Will be more or less a garage queen (like the rest of my fleet). The occasional ride to keep it lubricated - maybe 2 - 3 times a year. Stored indoors. When ridden - no rain, no snow, no mud and on cloudy days so no UV rays on the plastic (lol) - will lead a pampered life until the next curator takes over.

Regards.

Hi Bikevette

Any pics of the new thumper garage queen back on home soil? Hey did you pick this 350x up in the U.S. and if so what paperwork/brokerage paper work did you have to do? I have my eye on a mint/in the crate 2006 Banshee that I am thinking of buying and driving across the border to pick up and just wondering how much red tape a person has to go through to bring back an atv across the border to Canada? I have bought other items and had them shipped from the u.s. and went through a broker/shipping company but just curious how much paper work i would have to do on my own.

Hello 350xman

No - not an American trike. The one I purchased is a Canadian 350x. Purchased here in Canada. You can tell by the reflectors on the front forks and on the rear grab bar. Canadian trikes had reflectors - the US models did not. I will be picking up the trike next Thursday. Not looking forward to the long drive.

Not sure about all the paperwork involved bringing a trike (or vehicle) from the US to Canada. The last vehicle I imported from the US was my 1968 Corvette back in 1993. It was a pretty simple process back then. But I think times and procedures have changed.

Good luck on that "still in the crate" 2006 Banshee. That would be "sweet". I had a guy from Manitoba, Canada awhile back contact me about a '86 250R and '86 350X that he still had in the crate - new and unbuilt - that he was thinking of selling. That deal never materialized - not sure if that deal was legit or not.

Hello stoshu.

Hope all is well in Winnipeg, MB.

I did see that mint 125M on Kijiji - "in the family since new" and looks top shelf. Definitely worth his asking price all day long - I am surprised it has not sold. I appreciate your offer but if I come home with another atc - my wife will lose it. Explaining the 350X was hard enough. I think adding to my collection will have to be on the back burner for awhile - let the wife mellow out a bit. Women just don't understand. Am I the only one with this problem?? LOL.

But... unless I find a mint OEM 1989 - 1990 Honda Pilot FL400. Hopefully somewhere down the line.

Updated photos of the 350X to follow. Still trying to find time to clean/detail it to my specs. Been busy with life/job/wife/kids - not enough hours in the day. Although I did manage to ride it only once for about 20 minutes - "just WOW!!!" - easily my favourite ride of all my trikes - yes - even better than my '85 atc70 (LOL). It's a shame the 350X were only made 2 years - definitely the "king of the hill".

Damn guys, those are some nice wheelers. I have a real nice 88' 250r, and 01' cr500 that are low hours. Kinda torn on what to do with them. Basically only ride them on overcast, dry days, before I now the lawn, so I'm not picking blades of grass off them.

Hey Bkvette

Have you had a chance to ride your new atc350x much yet? What part of the province of SK are you located in(noticed your location avatar states SK)? I have a fair amount of family back in good old SK/old stomping grounds for me and get back a fair amount throughout the year but especially more in the summer months... Depending on where your located ... might be able to take out our 350x's for trail ride sometime during the summer months... Do you have any updated pics of your oem 350x? I never get tired of seeing someone find a rare bone stock oem or pretty much stock 1985/86 OEM 350x's, 250r's ,tri-z or tecate 3. I think clean 85-86 stock OEM 3 wheelers really had the best/nicest and cleanest designs etc... Can't wait to see some pics of your new atc stable addition. I am truely excited to see some pics of your 86 atc350x. Have fun riding it because its a blast.

Nice score!

Is it a full restoration or OEM survivor?

"Traded in" .....I'm wondering what they traded for. That bike is sharp. No way I would even attempt to get mud anywhere near all that. Forever. Until the end of time.

Hello ironchop - hope all is well with you.

I am going to say an OEM survivor from my inspection of the trike - low hours on the original date coded tires, no boot rub marks on the frame, clean (inside) of the OEM muffler, minimum wear on footpegs - not repainted - has the original finish on the footpegs. OEM plastic is not damaged, bottom of front and rear skid plates are clean and damage free - no dents or scrapes, etc. I am looking for a mint OEM front fender. The one presently on the trike had a cheap black plastic "mudflap" mounted to the front of the fender with pop rivets. I decided to cut the mudflap off instead of drilling the pop rivets out to remove the mudflap - figured it would look better than removing the rivets and being left with 3 open holes in the fender. I think finding a damage free front fender will prove to be difficult. A NOS OEM front fender would be great. I almost passed on this X because of that mudflap riveted to the fender. I could never drill holes into that fender - but someone else could and did. In my opinion - ruined an OEM part.

I asked the boys at the dealership what the X was traded in for - they could not remember - too long ago.

Regards.

Hey BKvette

Really nice set of wheels you have with that 86 atc350x you picked up. That is one awesome looking 350x for 30 plus years old. Glad you were able to save it from the dealership.. I understand how its hard to ride a bike that nice. I am lucky that I have a few daily riders and then some garage queens as well. Enjoy it! Here 's a few old pics of some my bikes in my garage.

Have a happy/fun Canada Day!
