The master cylinder housing on my 250R is shot. I've put two rebuild kits in it and the thing still seeps and goes through fluid. The gouges in the bore are too deep to sand out and seal good. I only have rear brakes on this trike, so its kinda important! Do the LTZ400's bolt right up and work? 300EX? Any other direct fit, or that will at least fit with an adapter plate I can make and no other big modifications? I'd like to get some firm, up to date answers. Brakes are a necessity!! Thanks.

The kits for most rear masters are not cheap...
I guess you saw the rear master on Ebay for $95.00ish. New. Aftermarket(?)
Maybe someone will PM you with a used one. :)
Good luck. I am sure more will chime in.

There were remanufactured cyclinders on eBay last time I looked. Normaly anything can be made to work with some welding.

I'd just buy a new one and forget about all the hassel for the next 30 years.

I'm running a 250r cyl on one of my 350x's. I suppose you could do the opposite, although the 350x cyl is harder to find then a 250r cyl.
I know people that are running yfz 450 cyl's also, not a direct fit but they get them to work.

I am weary of those ones on eBay for $95. If I could find a factory type that had the right throw/pressure, and I could use it with my brake pedal and only have to make an adapter plate, that'd be ideal. Maybe I just have to go buy one and start messing with it.

^ Whatever you do, don't run an EBAY knockoff, Brian Ditch has broke at least 2 master cylinders piston shafts...

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of. Those things look cheap. I might just start shopping around to see what might be similar to mine. I imagine a 300EX one would be comparable, maybe a 400EX, I don't know.
Z400 works. Have to enlarge the bolt holes either on the frame or on the cylinder housing itself, and maybe use the R pushrod, but they work with minimal modding.
Taken from another post .......
A while back, Mosh contacted me because he noticed that I own 250r's and z400's. He had heard from a few people that the z400 master cyl is an easy swap onto the ATC and they canbe found pretty cheap, which is handy. He asked me to take a couple of measurements and verify it was true. I found that the bolt spacing is the same, only difference is the Honda master is mounted with 8mm bolts where the Zuki master is mounted with 6mm bolts. Being that the bolts thread directly into the master cyl casting all you have to do is drill and tap the z400 cyl to 8mm and it bolts right up.
My old master cyl is seized up tight. So rather then mess with it I just went ahead and got a z400 master cyl with brake line, reservior, and reservior line for about 30 bucks to my door.

Oh, that'd be sweet!! To be clear, you're talking Suzuki LTZ400 quad master cylinder? It appears they have a long hose from a round reservoir?
