Hi all,

I've had to cut one of the castle nuts off of my 86 350x axle and in doing so, messed the threads up a bit. Does anyone know the size die and thread pitch that I need to purchase to rethread it properly? I had a 3/4-16 die that went on pretty well and seemed to cut threads okay until my die actually snapped in half, was this the right size and thread pitch? I only used that die because it fit the 85 250r that I had a while back. The other castle nut it also stuck, so I may end up cutting it off as well. I've tried air impacts, heat, and a total of 10 foot breaker bar and it wouldn't budge (broke a couple of high dollar ratchets in the process), so cutting it was my last resort.

Thanks for any help!

the castle nut from 85-86 250r fits the 85-86 350x axle. Did everything work out ok when you used the die on your 85 250R?

Yeah I'm pretty sure it did, it's been a while back. I may have had to run a tap in the castle nut.

Buy a nut splitter.....no thread damage. I've used them for decades. I don't go anywhere near a stuck nut with grinders or cutoff wheels on anything I'd like to keep.

You can find them cheaper elsewhere but this is what they look like. They have different sizes. Buy the right size for the nut.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180331/f1888dae1d046c3f6e101c511b65e1d1.jpg
