I finally own a 250ES and am happy about it. I picked it up on Saturday and traded my 1985 YTM225DR for it. I feel like I got the better part of the deal, but he's a Yamaha guy and is happy with the DR. It's rough, but the DR wasn't cherry either. Since I have other projects that are more important, such as my diesel engine out of my truck that's sitting on my engine stand as just a bare block, it will be a while before I can get into the "fix it" mode. I just thought I'd share some pictures. The seller is going to be getting me a seat for it too.251224251225251226251227

Not the cleanest but with some elbow grease should clean up alright. I know you said its a while out before you get to it but any big plans for it or just a clean up/resto?

Would make for a nice restoration project if you ask me. I'd start with a set of Maier rear fenders.

That's my plan. Just clean it up a little. Maier fenders. As long as it looks decent, it doesn't have to be OEM for me to be happy. I'm not even going to try to find OEM exhaust. I'll just buy a Kimpex silencer for it. I probably will eventually upgrade to a 300Ex carb to eliminate the cold start issue since I want to try to mount a snowplow on it.

How do three wheelers plow? I've considered fabbing one up for my 200x but didn't know if they plow well with the light front end.

It would suck to plow with a 200x, having no reverse. Unless you are into pushing it back up your driveway every time, a snow shovel would be better. :) I have heard the 200es or 250es Big Reds with reverse (most important) plow quite well. Cycle Country is a name I have heard for 3 wheeler plows. Dont know if they still make them but there are pics online.

Thanks. I've seen them in action next to my 250SX and there's no comparison in the mud or sand/water. The SX is better for sportier riding and I sure won't be letting it go any time soon!
