To clean it out, remove the exhaust from the bike and hang it so you can aim a small propane torch inside of it. Let it hang with the torch blowing in it until it starts smoking profusely, that means you're burning off all the old oil. Let it burn for however long it takes to clean it out.
I've actually had mine cook off while I was riding. I was climbing the hill to Shoe Tree at Haspin Acres at my first Trikefest. The Zinger had only been ripped around the yard prior to that. It ran fine though, I never had any issues. Well after holding it wide open for a bit to climb the hill to Shoe Tree it started smoking heavily. I was concerned but I had a hill to climb and the machine was running great, so I just stayed in the throttle. I stopped at the top and it was still running perfect but the whole trail was clouded out with two stroke smoke. That's when I figured out it must have cooked off.
The only rev limiter is very obvious. It's part of the thumb throttle.

Remove #11 from your exhaust pipe, that little trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotr ailpro restricts your air flow. ;)

250998250999I get my motors from PW's only.com. I also use their billet plug and remove the injection system. I use an 18mm carb from CarbPartsWarehouse with a MotionPro Blaster cable. I pair this setup with a DG and it rips. I do run a stock exhaust on one unit for around the house, works just fine but looses a bit of topend. The carb does take a bit of modification. You'll need to file or cut down on the pinch ears on the mount side to get it tight. I did it by hand and a sawzall blade, easy. I premix now which I like for a dialed in mix around 40:1. Foot pegs are the big thing, stock can't hold a boot. I get these off a local guy Endless Journey Cycles there old CircleOne Industries replacements for a SL70. I cut them and weld straight on. Just some ideas, good luck.

Turn your idle down on your carb, and use the parking brake if it still works.
You may want to buy some new reeds, the stock steel reeds are most likely 30 years old.

Yes, I agree the reeds are junk, Boyseen still makes them and your local Yami shop has them I'm sure. I remember two small rubber bumper stops, I'll look up part #. The dealer noted as important to the idle neutral to engagement point. They look like the earaser on a pencil. If your issue is it's not still in start mode these might be missing.

Part #s 3L5-16115-00-00 absorber 1 $5.39, 3L5-16125-00-00 absorber 2 $6.47
They work off the primary gear drive, easy to get to.
