I have a Yamaha ytm200 and it doesn't want to run. I'll start it and then when I try to drive it just Boggs out and stalls. I just put new piston rings in hoping that would be the problem but it wasn't. I need help I don't want to spend anymore money for no reason.

Welcome Joey,
We'll unfortunately for you these things take a little bit of money to get and keep them going.. we are going to need a bit more information before we can even attempt to help you out. Have you checked the carb? Adjusted the clutch? Do you have a manual?

Why did you rebuild it? Because it bogged out?
Did it ever run good?

I haven't worked on a Yamaha for a while but this might help give you a point of reference

Ya I had someone check it out for me and he thought the problem was it's losing compression. It ran perfect when I just got it.

I checked the carb a while back but I'm not exactly sure what to check. Haven't done anything with the clutch. It's not fully manual it has an automatic clutch

Joey,
A manual sure would help, it really could be as simple as a clutch adjustment or a dirty carberator..I would like to tell you that it is a simple solution but without you having a manual to explain any procedure I would also have to explain that through this forum and that's difficult..
Owning a 30+ year old trike takes some work, a little knowledge, a bunch of machanical ability and a willingness to attempt to figure out a problem..
Not trying to sound repetitive here but a manual needs to be your first step in figuring this out if you plan on keeping this thing. Happy mechanics and let us know if you get stumped..
One more thing compression loss wouldn't contribute to the stumble you explained..

Ok well I downloaded a manual online it's for a 200k but I think it's pretty much the same thing so I'll try taking the carb out again and take a look

Will the trike idle? And only die when putting it in gear? Will it rev up in neutral?

It will idle for a while and I'll rev it up and then I put it in gear and it will be good until I give it gas

Do you want loud or quiet? OEM is always the quietest on just about everything.

You're probably limited on aftermarket offerings.

DG = LOUD AS F@#K for no good reason

Other route is to use an aftermarket 'universal' muffler or a machine specific one and modify it to fit your machine as many guys have done. Requires some fab work and probably a little welding

Throw up some pics. We love pics.

As someone who has done this "don't do it" would be my advice.

The DG/Cobra systems for the 225 are the only ones I know of that sort of fit your 200 trike that you can still find today. They require a spacer that's about 1" long to be welded near the flange in order to extend the 180 degree curved section of the pipe out past the down tube of the frame.

They are obnoxiously loud and take a fair bit away from the bottom end if you plan to tow with it or lug it around tight trails a lot. The stock system uses a double walled head pipe and the aftermarket pipes use a much larger single wall that seems to make low end jetting a PITA. Expect to either run it really rich when it's hot, or have issues with it cutting out when you snap the throttle open until it's at full operating temperature. That all said, the top end seems to be a little better with the larger head pipe, but it's not a life altering difference.

If you do opt for the aftermarket pipe make sure to hang onto the stocker. If you plan to ride in an area that mandates spark arresters you may need it and after you hear how loud it is with the aftermarket pipe you may just want to put it back on.

Another thing about the after market pipes is that they rust easily. Plan to wipe it down with WD-40 between rides if you want to preserve it.

There isn't an exhaust in existence that would sound better than OEM. Please don't waste your money on DG headache junk.
