83-85 200x rear plastics

Hey guys, I recently bought a 200x and am working on resurrecting it. Ive replaced the bent axle, the worn out clutch plates etc. However I bought it without plastics, and was hoping to get a picture of how plastics bolt to the seat (preferably maier plastics) because I believe I read something about a bracket for the plastics that I'm not sure I have. So if any one could take a picture of there 83-85 plastics bolted to there seat so I can see how it's bolted up thatd be awesome, thanks.

Thank you. I don't have that middle bracket on my seat, is it truly needed? Does it just keep the plastics spread out cause I would maybe just make one

Yes that's the idea. The OEM fenders had posts molded into them that rode inside those big holes but the aftermarket replacement fenders don't have those molded in. Mainly, it kept your fenders off the exhaust pipe so you don't melt a hole in them from laying against the pipe.

I think it helps even with aftermarket fenders

Thanks Ironchop for confirming that. Knowing thats all its for and that after market fenders won't have that rubber plug I'll probably just take a piece of flatstock and see what I can fab up, Unless I can find a cheap one on ebay. Thanks both of you for the help.

Another question, went to remove the brackets from the seat pan and it seems as though the bolts are turning and the nuts arent coming off. Any tricks to remove these pieces?

Any tricks to remove these pieces?Ok you might need to grind the nut off. The studs are spot welded to a plate and pushed through the plastic pan from the backside. The weld must have busted loose. This is what it looks like on the backside under that foam. Gotcha, makes sense. Was planning on recovering the seat soon anyway so I'll have it apart and I can tac those bolts back on when I have it apart. Thanks

the frender brace stock dont work on the maier fenders. you need to cut it off at the L drill a hole on each side and bolt it to the fender. I used rubber mounts...stopped all the floppy crap

Thanks Oldskool, thats easy enough to do. I do like the idea just to make sure shes solid. Rather have something overbuilt than under built is kind of a life moto I live by. Haven't had time to do much to it, busy week at work but hoping this weekend I can pull my seat cover off and tac the studs back to those rectangles so I can remove my brackets, that way I can take my seat to an upholstery shop soon. Picked up an XR200 cam from the honda dealership this week and maybe will have time to put that in this weekend to. Enough Rambling, thanks old skool for the tip!
